Not to hijack the thread but what type of muffler is best with long tubes, off-road h and a blower? I had the Corsa mufflers and they were absolutely horrible after the long tubes at WOT. They sounded like they were breaking up. I went with the Maganflow oval cans and they sound good, but a little too quiet for my tastes. I want something with a little more bass and volume.

I see alot of guys using the FRPP M-5230 GTA the one that look like stock but with the 4" tips ...that set up sound awsome with the longtubes @ off road h-pipe ! It will give you more bass but I would think the Maganflow would still give you more volume or loudness at the top (NO DRONE WITH THESE )

I have the FRPP Stingers with BBK Lts and catted X-pipe. There is very little drone. The only time it is noticeable is in 5th gear between 1500 to 1800 rpms. At idle and WOT they sound great.

Stingers FTW

Who is driving in 5th @ 1800 rpm? What's that, 3.08 gears? 55 mph?

I'm running 1 5/8" JBA Longtubes with their catted H-Pipe which is hollowed out and the same oval Magnaflows. I'm always being told that my car is loud.

Thanks for you help so far guys. I've made up my mind that the Stingers are not what i need. I just moved into a new townhouse with a garage and as my car is now, its a bit loud in the garage in the morning. Though I normally don't care, this time around I'm gunna be nice to my neighbors and go with something a little more stealthy. Here's what I'm thinking:

Either

GTA's
M-5230-GTA_MED.jpg

MAC's
tk2546

Or maybe JBA's

My questions for you guys are:

1) Some sites should the GTA's have the Ford logo. Some posts on here say they don't. Anyone have any pictures of the GTAs?

2) Hows the sound level of the MAC's and JBA's compared to stock and GTAs? I don't know much about those brands so all info/comments are appreciated!!

This forum has been so helpful so far. Thanks!!

MAC's are loud. I was at a dyno day with a guy that had stock headers and midpipe and the thing was the loudest car by far and I had the blower, offroad-h and long tube setup! Plus I hear they drone really bad.

I have read on various boards that teh GTA's sound like Magnaflow (oval cans).

I have never heard JBA's in person.

Oh wow. I haven't found too much on the MAC's but not interested if they are loud.

How about the Hookers? Big fan of Hooker headers. Anyone running them?

After a tough decision, I had decided to go with Hooker. Unfortunately, it seems they might not be available. Back to the drawing board.

Anyone with JBA experience? Don't know much about them.

You guy's are over-looking the best system out. You can get the Magnaflow cat back system with all 3" mandrel bent pipe stainless all polished round mufflers with great 4" tips for the price of mufflers your buying. They look great from behind also one of the deepest best muscle car sound around. Look how mashed down your factory exhaust are at the bends over the axles. Mashed down to about 2" for sure. All my friends that also got them love them. True custom polished look.

If I said those look terrible, I'd be lying. They look great. Now answer a few questions:

Volume relative to stock at idle?
Tone?
Drone?

I am going to look into these. I also just found MBRP last night and like what I've seen so far.

I was the first guy on Imboc to get these now at least 20 people have them everyone has given 100% satisfaction saying deep Muscle car sound & idle is nice deep tone true muscle car without being so loud a cop will notice. If you ever run a Ford Hot rod cam it will be great sound at idle. Sounds powerfull on excelleration not raspy like some. I have never heard one complaint from any new owners. No drone when in cruise control on the highway at hi-way speeds when traveling. You can talk & hear stereo perfect on the road. Under power it sounds real deep & great. I love mine. You can hear a clip on Magnaflow site. Look to pick up 11 hp or more.
