Connector under console?

When I was installing my mgw shifter , I took the console apart and found a connector that was just hanging back in the back. My car has sync, ambiant light and all so I assume its for factory dash screen/ nav does anybody know what this is for, thanks

i know what your taking about and also have a premium with no nav

i have no idea what it's for, but i do know one of the wires is a keyed 12V

i'm assuming it's something for the nav as that's the only option i don't have, or maybe something that would be used for an auto trans car

The 05-09 had that too. Cant remember if it was manuals that had it or for heated seats or something.

My base car has it also. I really don't think it has anything to deal with the dash components. Lightblade might be on to something with the heated seats. My friend has heated seats in his, so i guess i could take up the console and take a peak next time i see him. /shrug If not, its probably something for the autoshifter because the letters illuminate for that.

Interesting it is switched 12VDC though. I could think of some uses for that.

I think it is heated seats, I have them and don't recall having any extra connector last time I had the console cover off.

I will tonight if I have time. Easy to determine if you have a multi meter though... just start w/ignition off and get a good ground (you can use part of the stock shifter assy metal if I remember correctly).

Start touching wires with the positive lead and the meter set to 20V DC.

If you come to one with no voltage and the ignition off, turn the key to accessory and watch the meter, should go to 12V if it's a keyed signal. The one I found was a 12V with just ACC, car did not have to be running.

I have, however, had a multitude of weird electrical shit lately while installing NOS, so maybe it was a fluke. I ended up wiring my arming switch to the power for the cig lighter outlet in the center console as I don't use it for anything ever. It's 12V hot all the time, but I have to arm the system anyways so it doesn't really matter to me.

if its behind the center console, its prolly heated seats, but if its under the shifter console, and your a stick, its the electrical harness for an automatic shifter.

it is NOT for heated seats. the hvac unit controls the heated seats as the relays for both seats are under the drivers seat. i found this out when i wired in my nitrous... the passenger heated seat turn on wire turned on my bottle heater and the driver side armed the nitrous system. should have seen the looks on people faces when they searched my car for the nitrous switches and couldnt find them..lol

the off on my cruise control was the purge... i bet a buddy $20 he couldnt find my nitrous switched within 15 min. he took that bet and lost.. once i got the $$ i showed him and he was very impressed.

I bet that's it, the tick /shift connector. It will be an option in 2013 x)

X2 on the convertible top. SN-95s had a similar setup with extra wires and 12VDC sources.
