Convertible top not working

I just purchased my first Mustang, a 2011 V6, and picked it up with the top down. When I got home the top was working just fine as I put the top up and secured the latches. However, since the next day after I had a MD state inspection, nothing happens when I press the switch to put the top down. No motor noise or any sound at all. I replaced the fuse for the convertible top motor and that did not fix the problem. Any ideas what to check next? I am guessing that the inspector may have pressed the switch without unlatching the top.

I realize this is very old but can’t believe there isn’t any thing on this on the site. Recently picked up a 2012 convertible that was working fine and now absolutely nothing, no clicks, no groans nothing? Looks like I will start with the relays, can you open and close a convertible top manually on the S197’s?

You can put the top up and down manually fairly easily but you must first disconnect the hydraulic rams. There is a cover over the bolt held down by a t30 bolt, then another t30 bolt to disconnect the ram from the top on each side.

Haven’t really done much with this since the top was up. Nice to know it can be moved once the pistons are free. There is a nice video by a woman who shows the relays in the trunk, I’m going to start there since the fuse in the engine compartment is good. There are many videos showing how to refill the fluid reservoir behind the seat with ATF so I may have to do that if the relays don’t work.
