The rocker switch on my '05 'vert has always been a little sticky in the four years I've owned the car. Running the top down usually is pretty smooth, but when it's time to put it up the switch sometimes needs to be played with to get it to work. By that, I mean I have to push the switch in different spots until it makes contact and everything goes OK then. It's never failed yet, but I figured maybe it's time to do something.
I stopped by the local upholstery shop and the guy said to just get a new switch from Ford, and he explained how to get to it to replace it. Simple enough. Well, I stopped today at the dealer and was told the part was obsolete, out of production and there isn't one available anywhere. Oh yeah, and the last listed price was $323.52!!!!
So now I'm wondering if I have any options. First would be to find another 'vert switch and cobjob it in where the other switch was and try to make it look decent. I'm also wondering if I unhooked all the power mechanicals to the top, could it be operated manually. Any thoughts??
