Darren, try the liquid fabric softener idea. Probably works just as good at repelling dust and whatnot.

Talk to me! I've done alot of crazy stuff to get a shine and whatnot, but taint never tried the fabric softener.

When I had a car paint corrected before I started doing it myself, the guy who did it said that the paint is still statically charged from the buffing and whatnot. He recommended that after the 24 hour cure I rinse the car off and wash with just liquid fabric softener to neutralize the static electric charge in/on the paint and body panels.

I thought the guy was nuts, but, sure enough, I rinsed and washed the next day with some "pink" liquid fabric softener and i swear that car didn't collect any dust or pollen for over a week... OUTSIDE. DAILY DRIVEN.

Now, this doesn't stop dirt from getting there but it most certainly kept the higher panels (hood, roof trunk) from seeing any pollen or dust. Shit just blew right off with every breeze!

Ever since then, I've done the rinse after my sealant cures and it works better than no fabric softener  YMMV

Just to add...

I used about 2 cap fulls of fabric softener in a 5 gallon bucket of water and did a sort of 2 bucket wash with it.

Dry as you would normally dry.

It's not a substitute for wax so it's best over all completed sealants, glazes and waxes.

Not as easy as the spray bottle stuff you were using but cheaper and worked for me for about 5 years.

Fellow Conspiracy Theorists,

Consider the possibility that Darren Photoshopped the picture of that slightly dusty hood. Scroll back up and look at it again. See what I mean? Don't you think it looks a little unnatural (and I'm not talking about the box of socks (marked "For Garage Use Only") reflected in the fender). Obviously, the poor chap is trying to get some relief from the avalanche of chop-busting he has to endure here for owning the Mustang with most hours spent in a climate-controlled 'clean room' garage. Forum members will recall that the pics of the underside of Darren's car show NO dust or dirt. So it is impossible that there would be smootz on the hood. Case closed. Nice try, UltraKla$$ic, but you can't fool all of the people on this forum.
