Disabling Door Chime

With a little searching, I was able to find the speaker for the door chime (attached to gauge cluster), however is there anyone who has an understanding of basic electronics to answer some concerns.

If I remove the speaker with a solder gun, what are the chances that it will alter some other component on the circuit board? Is a component like the piezo electric speaker wired in series or parallel? I assume you can take it out without harming anything, but I hate to be wrong.

The gauge cluster comes apart and goes back together very easily. It was pretty ingenious actually, considering some of the other ways components like this are assembled. It just snaps together, no glue, no plastic welds.

A quick Google search turns up some results of people removing a soldered speaker, but not from an 05+ Mustang.

Forget about, I was to impatient, and just removed it anyway.

turn signal clicking, seat belt chime, and maybe low fuel warnings if IUP equipped
I need the PITA chime to get me to wear my belt.

1. Turn signal = NO
2. Seat belt chime = NO
3. Door chime = NO
4. Low fuel warning = UNSURE (full tank at the moment)

For anyone who might suggest disabling the plunger inside the door, or jumping wires, it wont work. If you disable the switch in the door, there's a lot of features that wont work.

1) Door chime
2) Dome lights on/off when door open/closed
3) Window drop feature
4) Radio wont turn off when door opened
5) Driver door will lock with door open and key in ignition

When does the low fuel warning kick in? I have the interior upgrade package, and I'll be glad wait for a fill up to check.

the low fuel warning wont go off either.

All those "hey dummy" sounds come from that one speaker

What do you want to achieve by removing the piezo speaker? If all you want is to eliminate the sound when the key is in the ignition you can try cutting the keysense wire in the ignition.

Frankly, I don't want to hear any of the sounds coming from the speaker. Whether it's the door chime, turn signal, seat belt warning, or engine startup chime.

If I had known about the keysense wire, I might have cut that first and avoided removing the speaker altogether. But afterwards, I was kind of glad not to have to hear the turn signal either. Added bonus as far as I'm concerned.

But that's good info for anyone else who doesn't want to go to the extreme. That's ultimately why I posed the question.

I know this is an old thread, but just wanted to put it out there. I took the key sense (Light green and violet) out of the connector and now I don't hear the chime any longer. It will still chime if the lights are on or if your low fuel, but the annoying sound when you open your door is finally gone. Pretty easy fix actually.

Reviving a dead thread...trying to figure out what the previous owner did to disable my chime. Would like to have turn signal sounds. Where is this connection located?
Going to pull the cluster and see if he messed with the speaker too

You have to eliminate all the sound by disconnecting the speaker.
If you mess with the door sense wire, the window won't drop when
you open the door. There are two plugs at the door latch, each one has
two wires. One is for the power lock, the other is for the open sensor for
the window drop. If you were to keep the two sensor wires connected,
then the window won't drop for opening.

Hook up a switch in line with one of the wires to the little speaker. This way,
you can turn it on or off, so you have the option to turn it back on if you
lend the car out, or trade it in...

I’m also going to revive this old thread, having issues with no chimes I suspect the previous owner did something to remove them. After reading this thread I think it could be the instrument cluster speaker. Now I’m wondering where that is and how to find it. Do I need to remove the cluster or can I access it from underneath? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Last time I tried that, my car started speaking in ebonics.

Get in, close all doors/windows, make sure nothing is set to switch on, put car in neutral if a manual.
You have a minute to do this from start to finish, otherwise you have to restart.

1. Key-in and turn to ACC (not on/start).
2. Watch for the seltbelt dash light icon, it should stay on for a bit.
3. When it turns off, insert and undo the seatbelt 9 times (should be taking the belt out on the 9th cycle).
4. At this point you should see the SRS (airbag) icon come on.
5. When the SRS icon turns off, insert and remove the seatbelt one more time.
6. The SRS icon will flash. When it stops, you're done.

To reverse, just repeat.
