Do both gas tanks drain evenly?

As the title states do our cars use gas from both tanks evenly or does one tank get used and then the check valve closes and the other tank gets used? I have heard it both ways.

And the follow up, is there a filter sock in the passenger tank? Or is that just on the pump(s) in the driver side gas tank?

It is only one tank, just with a raised area down the middle to allow room for the driveshaft. There is a transfer pump which runs whenever the key is on to pump fuel from the passenger side to the driver side.

Isnt it actually just a siphon, not a transfer pump skwerl?

Dunno, I might be thinking about my Chevy truck with the transfer pump. Regardless, there are not two tanks. And the passenger side will always empty first.

The passenger side of the tank empties first before the driver's side. The tank has two gauge sending units (passenger side from full to 1/2, driver's side from 1/2 to empty) but only one fuel pump.
