Does Water Wetter improve intercooler efectiveness?

Before I installed my trunk intercooler tank I put some water wetter in the small edelbrock reservoir and if I remember correctly it lowered my IAT's about 10 degrees.

Not true. Depends on how much fluid you have in your system. I had a 6 gallon tank and ive put 1.5 bottles in before.

I don't add any anymore because its a waste of money if you use ice in your Intercooler tank. Every time you drain the fluid to add more ice, your draining the water wetter too.

Yes, water wetter works. It is essentially a surfactant that reduces the surface tension of water, essentially making the water "wetter". I've always wondered if you could potentially use a soap or detergent to the same effect when racing, so as to not waste bottle after bottle of the wetter.

Yes it works.

I added a full bottle to the coolant system & another bottle to the intercool system when I put the Whipple on.

I assumed the intercooler tank was filled with coolant. If so engine ice (the chemical) should work. I guess I better check my tank to see what's in there!!

I think your still missing the point.

In its stock form, the Intercooler tank is filled with coolant. its not a 50/50 mix like you have in your car's radiator, but a 70(water)/30(antifreeze) mix. You can add water wetter to that just fine.

Some of us have removed the stock tanks and installed larger tanks that hold anywhere from 2 gallons to 6 gallons of fluid. This increases cooling as there is more fluid, but when at the track, also allows us to drain the coolant, and add physical ice cubes to the tank to super cool the remaining fluid. IF we were to put water wetter in that, after our track pass when we drain the melted water, the water wetter would go with it and it would become a gigantic waste of money for us.

The fluid should reach the bottom of the neck of the recovery tank when the system is cold. With the water pump on (key on or car on), check as often as every couple of oil changes that the fluid is circulating. If it is not, purge the system per the instructions in the supercharger installation manual.
Change the fluid in the intercooler system as often as the radiator fluid is changed, using a 50/50 mix of antifreeze and water.
If you have any questions, please call Saleen at 800-888-8945."

I think you also missed the point of the OP's thread lol. its not about what fluid to put in there, or what mixture, its about how water wetter will work/affect things. I was merely pointing out if he had a larger than stock tank, or used ice, it wouldnt be cost effective.

I understand what the OP is asking .. I was just commenting on your reply indicating the coolant ratio is 70/30 not 50/50 ...

Most recommend 70/30 for max cooling as water cools better than antifreeze, but if your cold weather driving 50/50 is what you want so there isnt a freezing issue. If you want MAX MAX cooling, drain it all and run distilled water.
