I worked a trade with fuel for a cast eagle stroker crank .
And I was planning on running it with a set of forged rods and
A set of forged diamond pistons. Well doing a little research
I found the cast crank is rated kinda low! My plan is to make
600-650hp and not rev the crap out of it . Maybe hit the track twice and year.
I've read some bad stuff about the cranks but nothing about them
In the mod motors. I'm figuring they have to be at least as strong
As the stock crank? I just want to make the right moves .and I am doing
A budget build so either I go with what I have or sell it and just get some rods and pistons and use the stock crank.

I emailed mod max and they said that it should be fine for my hp level.
They said they have never seen one break and they should be as strong if not
A little stronger than the stocker. But I'm looking for other opinions as well.

The stock crank is very strong. If the Eagle crank is as strong then you would be good imo. I don't think anyone has done anything close to a destructive test on one though. The old "it's got to be better than stock" just doesn't always apply, especially with Ford.

I'd send a pm to GB10. He's worked with Eagle cranks in mod motors before and has real world experience.

Ratings are overrated imo.

Bruce,
Can he not use a crank like the FRPP Boss crank?
I know they're forged and can be picked up brand new for around $250 bucks.
I'm just not sure it'll work in our lowly 3V motors.

Something isn't machined the same. IIRC it has to do with the oil pump drive but I'm not sure. I wanted to go with one on my big bore build but ended up with a Kellogg.

Maybe someone has figured out how to make it work?

5.0L Coyote/Roadrunner Stock
Bore: 3.629"
Rod: 5.933" (same)
Stroke: 3.649"
Crank: Uses the same main and rod journal dimensions but front nose is 6mm longer than OEM 4.6L. Also fully counter weighted vs OEM 4.6L crank.

That is from a Boss block build thread.

I don't think I have read about a single crank failure on a modular motor. I'm sure it can happen, but must be a rare event.

The OE 4.6 cast crank doesn't have a center counter weight while all aftermarket cranks do whether cast or forged just like the factory forged cranks. I've read that this extra counterweight contributes to crank stability. I've also never read about first hand experience on a Ford OE crank failure. Rods, yes. Cranks, no.

Look at the area around the center main bearing. Forged on the left, cast on the right.

I guess maybe I will give it a try . Will the stoker make much of a power difference?

More torque lower in the revs.

Still keep flip flopping back and fourth .
Should I sell the pistons and crank and use the stock crank and get some forged rods and pistons and go that route . Or run the stroker setup. Hmm decisions

Wrong, I cracked the number 4 journal on my Kellogg 5.3 a couple years ago. L&M told me they do occasionally crack.
