Got an '08 and will be ready to put the 4.6 into it shortly. Seen plenty go in from below with lifts. Never seen any pics of it done without. Anyone done it? Tips?

My plan is to drop the K member off of the chassis, mount the engine, long tubes, etc. out of the car, and then pick the front of the car up with the engine hoist and lower it into place.

Yes. I imagine it will look roughly like this :) -

The primary reason - I'm going to put long tubes on and it seems like the hassle of getting long tubes into the car might be worth trading out for installing them out of the car and then installing from below.

Secondary - Never done it, figured I'd see if doing it the way the factory intended is better.

How many of these threads did you start?

Just one. After having my last three (what I considered to be) tech threads moved to chit chat, I decided to start this one in chit chat. It got moved to tech. :)

My longtubes dropped right in from the top with the rest of the motor. I can't see how this would be easier at all.

That is the biggest FAIL of this board - The whole THIS IS NOT TECH thing.

You can be in perfect compliance with the sticky that describes what TECH is, and someone will jump all over you and tell you it is not tech. LOL. I'm going to start putting everything in chit-chat and let them move it to TECH.

You can do it either way, out the top, or out the bottom - it has been done as you post many times before - although usually with big jack-stands or a lift...I've never seen it with a big crane and tow hook like that, but it should work.

I have a tow-hook like that on my car. Hmmmmm.....

Top was easy for me? I put the engine, tranny, long tube headers and blower all in at once with a engine hoist and some slings.
