Ever connected your sct tuner and blew a fuse?

2005 Mustang GT. Many mods.

Across many Mustangs and many tuners, I've never had this happen. I hooked up my xcal to reload a tune to compensate for tire size, and before I could do anything the gauge cluster and obdII port went dead. Shit. Car cranked upfine though. Got the manual out, saw a candidate fuse that could be the problem and sure enough it was blown. Replaced it and all was well.

I've *heard* that you really need a well charged battery, and run your tuner and uploads with a trickle charger running. Any truth to that? I've never had to worry about that before, but I've got the battery trickle charger on and will wait for the green light before trying this again.

Never heard of anyone blowing a fuse. Might want to check the OBD port. I know mine wiggles a bit and I try to always connect it with a straight in thrusting motion instead of trying to wiggle it in there. That sounded kinda dirty. I always pull the fuse on my water and intercoer pumps before trying to load a tune. Never done the trickle charger thing but always made sure there was nothing on and running.

IIRC the directions told you to unplug a fuse or too before plugging it in. This was back when I got my xcal-2 so yes I have heard of it before.

Should have accessories off as well, no fan, lights radio etc.
