If I could do it over I would have gone for the RST right off the bat. If I had, I probably would not have gotten so frustrated with my transmission and ended up spending over $5K upgrading to the T56. The other issue I had with the extremely low disengagement point was that the gears didn't seem to disengage far enough and I had a slight gear clash on every single shift. No big deal on the street but it made drag racing very frustrating. I ended up having to drive my car like I hated it, forcing the transmission on every shift instead of having it simply drop into gear.

This might not be a big deal for a garage queen but I enjoy driving my car a lot. The Exedy made driving a lot less enjoyable.

Skwerl i see where youre coming from. Also a buddy just reminded me of a place in Nashville that builds custom clutches and their prices are great, I'm going to get a quote from them tomorrow.? It's either going to be a single or twin disk from them or it'll be a McLeod!

Will they work good with resurfaced flywheel and new factory slave? I really want one. I may have a slightly used one set up for $600 if I can't get a deal through Jpc or lethal

They will work with a stock flywheel but it's not optimal. There is an older style of frpp flywheel that works real well and it's pretty inexpensive. Jeremy used it with his 3650 and rst. Sorry I can't think of the name right now.

You can see where the inner portion of clutch doesn't contact the flywheel from the wear pattern. This was with a Fidanza flywheel. When I installed the 6060 and new rst I also sprung for a new McLeod flywheel for full clutch coverage.

It still held power but sometimes the clutch disengagement was a little sticky because that ridge would hang up for a split second.

I've had a Mach 500 on the stock flywheel for almost a year now and love it. Pushing 500 at the tire and it is holding very nicely. The pedal feel is a little stiffer than stock but once the break in period was over the engagement is very streetable. I had a horrible $4k experience with a Mcleod RST/RXT couldn't get me to buy one of their clutches again.

Im going to try and call Tennessee Clutch and Supply tomorrow and see what they can get me. It seems like they have built clutches to handle 600 hp Diesels. I think they can build me one to handle the tq my little motor puts out lol

Your story is funny because that is how I felt with the McLeod in my car. I hated driving it. Similar experience with different products. OP good luck with your decision.

I have an exedy 500 on stock resurfaced flywheel and I like it pretty good. Stiffer than stock and engages lower but nothing you can't get used to. I feel like exedy makes quality stuff

How did you spend $4k?

Just got off the phone with the clutch place. He said he could give me a dual friction clutch with a 3200 lb pressure plate which the slave would work with for $325. That is including a new slave cylinder too. Kinda hard to pass that up.

That sounds like a good deal, do you know anybody running clutches from them?

Yeah I read online of a few guys running them in Cummins Diesel trucks. My buddy has ran them in all of his cars. Currently has a dual friction in his Lightning swapped 03 GT. Holds great!

3200 lb p/p is going t be stiifer than the exedy. i think exedys is 2800 lbs. someone correct me if im wrngi have the 500 and pedal leg gets tired after driving a few hours. something to think about is thats alot of spring pressure on the factory style slave cylinder. they tend to have very short life spans with the higher clamp loads. im at 500hp/480 torque on mine and i leave at 5000rpm on a 2step with et streets and have no slip. also i have a 2 piece steel flywheel

I just recently replaced my clutch last month with an exedy mach 500 and exedys lightened flywheel, by far the best clutch I've ever driven, but I think its a little overkill for the stock transmission as I snapped my input shaft clean in two at the track only a week ago, unfortunate part was the trans was brand new with only 800 miles lol

Yea my original trans has a bad synchro in 2nd gear but I threw it back in to get the car moving again, plan is to have a 26 spline input put in the broken trans and talk to exedy about a 26 spline clutch plate instead of replacing the whole clutch again
