Yes I have. I like the sound. I've just heard the quality isn't the best.

So here's what I'm thinking. I need to post a video of what it sounds like now. Not to derail my own thread, but my videos come out like crap. Do you guys use an external mic? My wife has a nice HD point and shoot which takes nice video but when I try it comes out like garbage for sound. I also have a GoPro. What are guys using online who take great videos of these exhausts?

You pretty much have to mount a set of microphones, maybe look for a box/amp and then go to your line in on your laptop or something.

Doing a web search might find a cadillac setup.

I had the Roush Extreme system on my car and I installed MBRP axle backs to try to bring the volume down a little. I still have the straight pipe axle back section if you're looking for a really aggressive sound. It was too much for me with LTs, especially on start up. I do miss it at WOT, though.

I can't believe you had the guts to post an axle back sound question after the Legato thread. I may change my UN to Axle Back Whisperer, and I'll chime in on every one of these.

BTW, the Roush Extreme is even louder than Legato. I believe Legato means "small Roush" in Cambodian.

It's hard to grasp the loudness through a video.

I want more volume while maintaining tone as well.

Ha. I started this thread back in the spring I think. What deletes are they or are they just cut pipe?

If you have a GoPro, get a cable, about 25-50 ft. length (Monoprice should have some), and buy a Sony ECM-DS70P. Mount the GoPro inside on the rear window, and tape the microphone around the license plate area (route the long cable through the trunk). You'll get a pretty good sound recording from that setup. I can post an example video of mine when I get home.

Oh man. I cannot believe what I am about to suggest.

The loudest setup I had with out sounding like crap and having a good exhaust tone was stock cats, cut&clamp x-pipe, and muffler deletes. No drone, good cabin sound and loud enough to have fun.

But once the supercharger went on the tone went out the window.

Loud is not always better, mine was a little stupid till I put mid mufflers in now it sounds deeper a bit quieter but the note is sexy as fuck :p

Current set up which I don't want to change, LT's, no cats, m8- mid mufflers and SVE axle backs (straight through) can't run chambered or I will blow them up with my fireballs.

I agree loud can get tiring quick. But when it's quiet you want that race car sound, cuz race car!

Cutouts are probably the only way to have best of both worlds.

I'm running M80 mid mounted as well, love the tone and WOT is loud but how often am I doing that.

Video is below. It was a O/R H-pipe with Borla Touring mufflers (Coyote motor). Everything else was stock. If I was going to change anything, it would probably put in an aftermarket overaxle pipe (Lethal Performance had one), and put in a staggered setup of resonators (tubed mufflers).

Anyways, GoPro 4 was mounted on my helmet for the front camera, and I had the GoPro 2 mounted on the rear window (inside) with the Sony mic hooked up to it. I think I had a 25' cable, you might be fine with a 10', but I would measure. The Microphone was taped to the license plate area so that it was out of the wind. The main thing that kills audio is the wind.

I just bought Varex Xforce mufflers. I plan on going off-road h-pipe and hopefully can control the volume with it.

Th pipes clamp in the same locations as any aftermarket axleback, and they terminate in chrome 4" tips with Roush embossed on them. Best idea of sound is the follwoing clip:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RAAh8NblWzU

This is with a 4.6 bored 30 over, stroker crank, Livernois Stage 3 heads and NA cams, 2 5/8" long tubes, high flow cats, H-pipe, and the Roush Extreme cat back. If you'd like to give the open sound a whirl, PM me, and I'm sure we can work something out.

It was, and pretty much what I thought when I first heard the Voodoo. My car was heading that direction in terms of sound. Running the full course at MIR (Memphis), it was hitting about 150 by the end of the straight, and a joy to ride the back half (what is shown in the video). My plans were to drop an Aluminator XS in it, but that was halted when the stock motor locked up :/.

Nice video and all good info. In regards to the sound being too much, I drive the car not very often. So when I do, I wanna hear it. Cold starts are loud right now but pretty tame after that. My wife doesn't think so but I do. Let me see if I can get a good video this weekend and then I'll watch some more videos online.

I'm currently running Magnaflow Streets with stock cats and mid X pipe, however under 3k rpm in 4th-5th gears, inside the cabin is way too loud while outside the cabin isn't quite loud enough..

So I'm looking into replacing them with either Borla Stingers "S" type, Roush Extremes or SLP PowerFlo's.. IIRC these provide the least amount of cabin drone but also provide the best deep and aggressive exhaust tone which I'm looking for..

I'm sort of leaning more towards the SLP PowerFlo's as they're manufactured by Roush, but not quite as loud as their Extremes..

Anyway I intend on sticking with both my stock cats and mid X and would like some opinions/feedback from anyone as to which would provide the least amount of cabin drone..

-Thanks
