as far as i know, this is an X pipe with cats and mufflers bypassed. which is what the FRPP kit with cutouts should sound like

Hers is a v6 and I don't care what kind of exhaust or lack there of you have on the car a V6 is a v6 is a v6 you can't make it sound like anything else. You might come close but there is still that v6 sound to it.

where in this thread has anyone said that they want their V6 to sound like anything other than a V6?

Where on there did I say that i was trying to make it sound like anything other than a six. i like my six and i like the way it sounds. i was just trying to give that guy a lil help with his friends car. I have a six and wanted it loud so i put cutouts on it. I know its hard for you all to believe but i get compliments all the time on it. and im not trying to make my car a gt im trying to make it MY CAR.

I have a single 3" cutout basically for backpressure purposes and it do works but as 94tbird said, they don't last, mine lasted just a week.

I'll loosen my standards, if it has no mufflers and the exhaust is just made to make as much noise as possible without any real performance benefits, that's gay!

Here is a video from 4 years ago when my car was Gay!! :gay:

If I were to do cutouts, they would be close to the header collectors (LT), with pipes to extend the cutouts' dumps so they exhaust to the side of the car. Of course with a downhill run from header to tip so they naturally drain 'steam' accumulation.
This is where mine went...

Wow. a lot of tension in this thread. My friend is not trying to make is car anything more than a V6 or trying to fool anybody. He just wants his car to be louder without buying new mufflers.

I appreciate all the feedback. I will forward your advise. Thank you everyone!

I thought about getting cutouts to go right before my cats. With my LT headers and cams it would sound sick. But if they don't last that long why bother? :/

compliments from ricers, people who drive 4 bangers, or a nun who doesnt know any better, don't count...

the average toyota corolla (even if it's a "corolla S" ,ooo look he bought the 'sporty' corolla) driver just hears a fuck loud car that screams at him and assumes the thing will hook up and blast away

lol, honda civics don't count some good shit right there. Jokes aside, in the video it sounded like he was playing the music to cover the v6 sound. My bad on the misinterpretation of your video. PS nothing you could say could make me upset. I will have a smile for at least another day after out running a gt500kr by a inch. Inch is as good as a mile to me lol.....

Now that would just make sense wouldn't it.

I had read about Don's not lasting long and discouraged me from them. Besides, I blew my exhaust off the midpipe one time and it was fucking loud. I guess the sound would be tolerable at the track.

A little more back on topic...Is a different tune required to make the most of the lack of back pressure with cutouts in operation? Seems to me, if we spend all this money putting cutouts on the car, why not spend a little more to make the most of the free-flowing exhaust?

I don't care how you cut it or what you do to it. A 6 cylinder with duals or anything else still reminds me a 1966 ford pickup with a glasspack......never heard one that sounded "good", all sounded like logging trucks......lol
