I have a 2005 GT convertible that has been heavily modified, mostly the engine. It is currently producing 600+HP and tuned pretty rich to avoid any lean burning with the supercharger on it (Kennebell). During the build I did a couple of cosmetic things, one of them remove the rear spoiler. Of course the exhaust pipes exit the rear and I never got a strong exhaust smell in the car before the build and removal of the spoiler.

What is happening now with the top down you get buried in exhaust fumes especially when slowing to a stop. It has made the car unpleasant to ride in since you smell like gas after a trip. Would putting another wing on the trunk help? I know when I had an old Bronco I was advised to run the dual exhaust out the sides behind the back tires because the exhaust would roll into the the truck if you ran the pipes straight out the back.

Any ideas would be appreciated!

^^^^^This.
Cats and a better tune. These are not old carburetor engines that we would run rich to avoid leaning out.
You would gain HP and a better running engine and it would probably last longer.

Correct, no cats. I do need to get a new tune. I have never been entirely happy with the way it runs.

You're always going to get that funk without cats. Personally I like it. Reminds me of riding around in my Dad's old Chevelle or filling her up before those rubber vapor things were on the pumps. Even driving around as a kid. I used to get one visit to the gas station a week with Dad's credit card. I used to fill my tank and two 5 gallon cans I had in the trunk. My car always smelled like raw fuel. We were always a little cautious firing up a spleef in the car, haha.

Similar issue, but with my HD Dyna. Swapped stock exhaust for 2-1 w/no CAT & then added some performance parts to beef 'er up. Occasionally smell raw fuel at stop lights when riding & definitely smells-up the garage when I get home, but she runs like a "raped ape."

What's my point, you say...make it what works best for your vehicle riding style. If you're not going to 1/4 mile drag & want night/weekend cruiser, swap exhaust & change tune to run at cruising speed vs. "rip your hair off & gas you out of car." :D
