You need a new car for that? Haven't people been driving modded 10sec 03/04 cobras and LSx cars as daily drivers for years now with heat and AC?

"Acts" like a new car, is not the same thing as "is" a new car. And just like today, those cars were usually blowing up around the mid-10s. A blown up street car is not what I consider a daily driver, but everyone has their own opinion.

It takes a ton of skill to get any car to run in the 12s on an OEM Ford tire. It's also dangerous. IMO, I wouldn't put that as a criteria.

Not really a Criteria from me at all.

I was just pointing out once you step away from (Real Street Tires).
And go with some sort of Drag Race Radials it is not then really a Daily Driver that can be driven thousands of miles and in adverse weather conditions.
(Not Ice & Snow conditions obviously)

I am not saying it has to have the exact same tires that came on the Mustang as in that specific Manufacturer or Size.
I'm referring to honest to goodness street tires though.
The size might very well differ but still street tires.

Example:
I ran Continental DW Extreme 255-40-19's fronts and 285-35-19's rear.
Now that tire size did not come on a 08 Bullitt Mustang or GT Mustang.
But they did come on the 08 Shelby GT-500 Mustang.

So what I am saying if you have a Mustang that is Fast enough on a Drag-Strip that NHRA/NMRA
requires at least a Legal 6-Point Roll Cage it is one FAST Mustang.

And that Mustang has all the Ford Functions fully operational and can be driven anywhere in the USA covering Thousands of Miles.

Trust me it is Not Dangerous at all because of running it with street tires.

I understand that, being a Mustang forum, but when a guy like me goes to an autocross, and I see Miatas, dodge neon ACRs, and MR2s, and such beating pony cars times by 5 seconds on a 45 second or so course, I consider them fast. I guess it's all in which context you take it.

IMHO, for a DD, I'd say a powerful car is 400hp or more, but if that car weighs only 2200 pounds, 200 hp would be pretty quick.

I have a friend with a EVO IX MR. Thing runs low 12s easy, and if he were to actually launch it, probably high 11s. He daily drives the thing everyday and has no weight reduction done to it. Just a few small bolt ons and a tune to run higher boost. Recently had it retuned to run 2 more psi, a new intake manifold, and E85. Maybe pushing the mid 350-375 range? I just know the car hauls ass.

Can't really judge "fast" by HP numbers.

My dads 13 GT500 with 718 at its toes... Thats fast. His old TT Lambo with 1600hp on C16. Was ungodly fast.

Your exactly right I never ever see any Mustang here that is like mine as far as Power is concerned.

Maybe but they sure are not driving them much.

Usually the only place you see them is at Car Shows.

As you point out on the INTERNET it reads like the majority of people have all these Wild Ass Mustangs.

But actually I have over 45,000 miles on mine and been to several States traveling and you know what ???

I have only seen a very few Mustangs that even remotely sounded and looked like they might possibly really be all that FAST.

Point here is I totally agree with you.

I might add also that in driving all over the place I actually have only seen a few cars period that even catch your eye.
That includes both sides of the interstate where you could see both sides.

Again no science here just opinion. So really no right or wrong answer. Just interesting to see how what was considered a fast track car is now an average DD.

If I am looking at there rear end then they are a fast street car! Lol

the whole "fast street car" thing is kind of a loaded question.

I think once you get near low 12s you are faster than most people you will come across on the street.

however the setup of the car comes into question. for instance I can run a high 11 and than drive home from the track without turning a single screw (except for having to close the nitrous bottle). but then there are a bunch of guys in the mid to high 12s with spool, fat bias plys, no interior, 4000 rpm stall, idol like its the end of the world, and have to be trailored. and some of those setups I see at the track run the same speed I do OFF the bottle.

but then comes another question, do you consider rolling on drag radials a true street car?

there are a few things that are variable when talking about what is streetable:
no interior
4.56 gears
spooled
slicks
race gas
ladder bas sus
skinnes on the front
4000 stall converter
window net

the list goes on. there are some cars that have all of that and the owner still consideres it a street car.

so then you think your low 12sec car is pretty damn fast. then you come across a 911 turbo, lambo, 13' GT500 or one of those 1400hp supras that runs away from you in the interstate. now what is fast?

for some people to complete the package of fast street car it has to handle too.

I daily drive mine 7 days a week. 625 hp, MT82 and all. Traction can be an issue in Mexico sometimes (only running 275/35's on the back), but she gets 250-275 miles per tank still and everything works. No cage yet, but with the power she makes, I'm sure I'll get booted sometime this year.

Exactly. I have the fastest daily driver(year round too, in snow) in my town, besides a 2013 GT500 on the Airfield that I haven't seen in months. The only other cars that come close to mine is a 2012 Boss 302 and a few other 2011-2013 5.0s but they're stock. There is a few Subaru WRXs around but I'm not worried about them, because they're nothing more than a few bolt-ins, if that.

I'm happy with my 410-425RWHP and it definitely puts a smile on my face. I'll be adding over 200+ RWHP within the next two years though lol.
