you can see the full top of the tip. when they are installed. they do not sit under the car fully. and according to the FRPP website the t-409 stainless steel which the FRPP GTA's are made from are corrosion resistant. if you would take the time to polish and clean them everything would be ok.

and along as being informed. they were off the car later that day. he was fully aware of the situation of them. he got full color photos of the tips/muffler bodies and showed all pitting/rust on them. they are not full blown rust buckets. if you take the time to clean them they will come back no problem. i told the buyer that it would be needed. he understood that.

i have made an offer to refund some of the money to help with the polishing equipment/supplies.

also i need to add in that these went from the east coast all the way to the west cost. the shipping alone was $45.

and i dont know why someone would sell a perfect fit axle back for $50. if they were hacked/welded from midas i could understand but they are lasting axlebacks from ford racing.

First.. i dont want you banned.. as i am here for the same reason.. and im sure everyone else is too.. Second you did send me pictures and videos of them on your car.. and that shows the TIPS only.. Lastly you said you were going to "bust out the polishing stuff and have that done prior to being shipped"

I think you should refund the OP half the price.

Even at $100, thats WAY overpriced.

Not a cool deal. $200? really? i bought a methanol kit for $180 brand new. Jayysus.

Based on those pics, it will take several hours for the OP to polish that exhaust. He can restore the look of the tips a bit, but there will still be rust or fading in certain spots.

BTW - That link you posted from 04 Sleeper - I know him pretty well, and if you look at his exhaust, it didn't have pits or rust on it before he polished it to a Mirror finish.

i have refunded a portion of the money.

i also sent you photos from the underside of the vehicle. it included the entire body assembly of the muffler itself.

we have discussed ways to rectify this situation, i hope everything will work out in the end. please email me back once you read through everything i have sent to you.

I am selling them for $50 just to move them along and pass a good deal on to another member who wants them. They are not in need of any work to get them on. Maybe just a wash with some soap and water which i WILL do myself before they get shipped out. But any how. Hopefully things get worked out between the OP and the seller and I am working out a deal with LTX to buy mine and everyone will be winning. :victory:

It's says alot for the credability of the seller to come out and id himself and also to try to work with the buyer on this thing. Personally from those pics, theres no way I would have bought those. Seller would've had to clean first and send me photos cleaned at the very least.
One thing that people need to keep in mind when buying used exhaust or even new, Stainless Steel is rust resistant! NOT RUST PROOF!! There is a big difference. And exhaust from areas where salt is used on roads like the northeast as well as high humidity areas like the south exhaust will rust even if they are SS. There are some high quality SS that has a higher resistance but most exhaust are not made out of this high of quality material. Any impurity that is in the steel or damage that the steel is subjected to can cause deterioration to start. However, even with damage &/or impurties it usually takes a long time for SS to get that bad.

To be fair to the seller he did provide pictures. I personally wouldn't have bought them based on the pictures and price alone. On the other hand he did state they would be cleaned up prior to delivery, which I believe he has rectified by refunding the seller part of his money. The fact the OP paid so much was definitely do to a lack of research on his part. Although it seems the buyer has been ripped off he did in fact know the price. It's a relatively cheap lesson since the mufflers can be cleaned up.

With about 1-2 hours of work you can have them looking brand new.

Good luck!

Guys, seriously, mind your own business. He saw pics and a description, not to mention the seller refunded a part of the money. This thread was started in order to help him get them cleaned, not to talk about what he could have bought for $200.

OP, start by cleaning them really well with a heavy duty degreaser, then try to polish them as best as possible. Whatever will not polish out, sand it lightly then try polishing again.
