Wow! Really Ford?!? I guess that answers my question about the shifter orientation. That is even more screwed up than my 05 shifter. I guess no 5.0 in my future... MGW is going to have it's hands full trying to come up with a shifter for the 5.0's. I would love to see Georges face when he pulls that shifter out!!!!

So you're basing a decision to buy a car on it's shifter? Have you even driven one yet?

Just curious as that's a pretty radical decision to make on a car that's WAY ahead of the early S197's as far as design and functionality is concerned.

The stock shifter on the 5.0L manual is perfect just how it comes from the factory. Take one for a test drive and then let us know if you still feel the same way.

i totally agree, the manual shifts better than any stock mustang i have ever driven, its short, smooth, and goes right in any gear you want it to, when you want it to. works great.. you realy would have to mess up to miss a gear, first drive i banged gears like i had owned it for years.

yeap!!! I want to say that the shifter feels better than the one on my 2009. I don't feel the grinding feeling i did in the 2009. The only thing is in the stop lights, i often forget not to push down when going to first gear then i end up going to reverse...LOL other than that is much better shifter.

Supposed to help with fuel mileage. When you are in 1st getting ready to change gear, if you are in lower RPM, a solenoid blocks 2nd gear and moves you right over to 4th. I only encountered it once, and you have to be shifting at like 2k or something. I usually shift at like 2500-3k, so the solenoid is usually always open for me when I want to use 2nd.

is there any way you can cut that off?

It looks a lot like my GT500 clutch just not toasted!!! ;)

No McLeod though....

A GT500 dual disc clutch is significantly different than this.

I guess no 5.0 in my future... !!!

I'm guessing you weren't planning for one anyway, because no-one in their right mind would let a shifter design stop them from buying one of the most advanced Mustangs ever.

what happened to DUAL MASS flywheel?

Did you hear they were supposed to have one?

Would that clutch bolt to a 05-09 Flywheel......For tranny swap....

FWIW, the flywheel is a different part number than the '05-10, so something is different about it. It's a regular 8 bolt, for internal balance, so if the clutch doesn't fit your flywheel, you could probably just run the whole clutch/flywheel assembly from an '11.

Or, you could order the Centerforce 11" 26 spline disc only from FRPP (M-7550-B), and run it with your stock pressure plate.

That's good to hear b/c that would be my shifting range as well. So skip shift would likely not be an issue for me it seems.

My auto is set to shift in that range and it seems right to me.

A 2011 clutch cannot be run in any other Mustang, NONE, and vise versa. The transmission uses an input shaft that has different number of splines that no other Mustang has used before. We are working on something with one of our clutch manufacturers to get something on the market, and it's 2011 specific.

The 4th gen F bodies had the same thing in their T56, all that was required was a jumper wire that was a direct plug in to the factory harness, it just constantly keeps the relay tripped to keep 2nd gear open. No one has made one for this car yet, but I believe it can also be shut off with just a tune, but I'm not 100% sure on that at the moment.

Good to know. How many splines is it?
