Hi folks

i need to buy some new brake hoses for my 2010 Mustang... the Aeroquip ones. Now I am wondering , if there are different type of hoses in the newer 2010 Mustangs. (4.6 L Engine )

Any ideas ?

Thank you for your help

Believe it or not, I have a set of aftermarket stainless braided brake lines from my 2009 Bullitt Mustang. These are for the front brakes only. I put them on the car about 3 months before wrecking and totaling the car. I sold off most of the salvage parts here over 10 years ago but still have those brake lines in a box. If you want to message me and give me a mailing address, I will send them to you for the cost of shipping.

Not sure about the original hoses but Rockauto shows the same part numbers for 2009, 2010 and 2011.
2009 and 2010 brakes are identical, 2011 uses identical rears and the same front caliper over a slightly larger rotor so it seems reasonable that the hoses are all the same.

The aftermarket Stainless Steel lines, have a different style ( elbow ) where the meet the Banjo Bolt .. the OEM has a 90 deg fitting, and all of the stainless steel brake lines have a 120-130 deg. fitting.
So I am not sure , if they will fit. Perhaps someone has a foto / pic from a installed stainless steel brake line on the front brake caliper .

@ bambam 06 @ skwerl. the lower hoses are similar to the OEM rubber hoses my Mustang uses .
the total length is approx. 20 " or 53 cm. and they have the 90 deg. elbow.

Got the brake lines shipped today. No idea on how long it will take. There are 4 stainless brake lines and two original equipment brake lines in the box. I hope they help you out.

I haven't used my paypal account in many years. I will have to find it and figure out how to use it again.

and while waiting for the hoses..I am doing my "homework " here...

the former owner painted the calipers in red.. and also in a " simple " manner.

So I took them all apart..cleaned /brushed, degreased aso. and at the end.. I sprayed them with special brake caliper paint in high gloss black. Looks way better now -

Tip for changing brake hoses. Take the old, cut in half and press hot glue into the end. Than you have a perfect plug for the open brake line.

Good advise ! But I have another trick... every time when I buy some brake stuff.. mastercyl..calipers aso. They come with those tiny little plugs ..in different colors. you can use them for plugging the lines also. But the Idea with the old lines is also a good one. I will cut the old ones tomorrow.

little update...

installed the hoses from skwerl ... and then I found another issue. The rear left caliper is trash.
So I ordered two new calipers ( raybestos element 3 ) from RA... and now The car has a parking brake again...

So the brake job is done for now...

Next "construction " is the drain plug ... the former owner destroyed the oil pan drain plug - because there is a lot of silicone around the plug....

Hope that I can fix it without pulling the oil pan.

Oh it is a hell of a rabbit hole! Silicone on the drain plug, so you end up replacing the pan. While you have the pan off you might as well upgrade the oil pump. And then you figure with the mileage, it might not be a bad idea to look at the timing chains and tensioners...

@ skwerl the car has 70.000 miles on the "clock ". I think the chains are still good . First thing I will try, is to use a special "oversize " drain plug. Now the plug is a 14 mm x 1.5 and the repair plug is a 15mm x 1.5 . At "Volkswagen " they use those plugs.. if the mechanic is to "strong " and strips out the plug.

Mr "Dorman " saved my Pony today ! I removed the stripped drain plug... and thanks god , the tread inside the oil pan was o.k. so far. To be safe, I used a 14 mm x1,5 drainplug for Jeep engines..made by Dorman. Works like a charme ! The seal is also way better than the OEM Ford part. Torqued the plug to 26 NM ..

btw... changed the tranny fluid also.. but I am not sure if I need to fill up the fluid until it soaks out of the filler hole... or if the fluid level should be 1 /2 inch below the filler hole. The Forad Manual says 1/2 inch below...the Tremec Manual says up to the filler hole...

I am a little confused now...

same for the rear end.. below or up to the filler hole ??

Any ideas ?
