Front Struts

I currently have a set of GT500 shock and struts on my 05 with a set of FRPP K springs. I like the way the car handles and I'm pretty happy with the stance.

Only thing I dont like is the ride is really stiff and bouncy on the road. I'm guessing the struts are the main culprit as they were designed to work with the heavier nosed GT500.

I'm looking at two inexpensive options right now. Go back with the stock struts/shocks with the K springs or there's a member selling '11 GT front struts and use those with the K springs. If I go with the '11 struts...should I use stock rear shocks or will the GT500's work?

My question is will these '11 struts work well and give me a better right quality or should I just put the oem struts and shocks back on?

Not looking for advice on aftermarket setups...I'm not looking to spend that kinds of cash right now. I'm just looking for a simple/inexpensive solution to my ride quality issue.

The thing is, if you use your old stockers or buy the '11 struts, being lowered is going to eventually blow them. Perhaps contact Sam Strano and see if he can get you a set of Koni STR.T front struts for cheap. I paid about $450 for front struts and rear shocks when I got tired of how my stockers where making the car feel like it was so rough after lowering it. So you may be able to get the front struts only for around $250 or so.

I know you said you didn't want advice on aftermarket setups, but it's hard to not recommend something when I know how the car felt on my Steeda Ultralights with the stock struts compared to the inexpensive Koni Orange colored STR.T Struts.

stock shocks and struts with loweing springs is never going to come out how you want it. the shocks ans struts are just too compressed off the bat from being lowered

The car wants to "porpoise"....jouncing front to rear going down rougher roads.

Yeah, that happened with my stock dampers and the lowering springs as well. Using the STR.T's solved that. I hate to say it, knowing what you said about more expensive options, but the Koni's I mentioned would do a much better job of it. Now I don't get the boat in rough seas feeling going over rough roads. Perhaps try just the struts and add the shocks later if the stockers don't hold out or allow too much movement.

I think I'm giong to try one of the above mentioned stock options for now until I can get back to work and afford something better.

So which would be the better choice...the OEM struts or the '11 struts? Or would they be about the same?

If you can get the 11 struts cheap, and they will fit properly, I'd try them.

Ask Sam Strano about it though. He knows a hell of a lot more than I do about this stuff.

If you are counting penny's a good option are the 2011+ svtpp strutts. They are 88 a piece at tousleys and are actually the Tokico Hp's. The weight or the 2011 Gt500 are close enough to the older Gts to work very well. 2011 oem Gt struts require the 2011 struts mounts are they are really not the best.

I'm pretty sure from the research I've been doing on what shock/strut/spring combo to use, the 2011 stuff will work on the 05-09. But there is a member here selling a set of Koni SRT.Ts with Steeda ultra light springs springs for a real reasonable price. You can always sell the springs you don't use. They are from an 2011 and I'm pretty sure they'll fit your car. i saw the thread yesterday.

Oh, well tried to help. That's not a bad price those Steeda HD camber adj. are $289 alone from Strano. THe springs & struts/shock kit is like $689
