FRPP Whipple S/C kit

well i searched, found some good information but still looking for a bit more info.

thinking about supercharging the mustang one day, but driveability, reliability are my main concerns. car is my daily driver and sees all types of weather here in Chicago. c ar is drvien year round as well. (dont know if that should influence my choice or not)

so i was looking into the FRPP Whipple kits (most likely the 400HP one, but the FRPP site doesnt offer much info) because they can maintain the warranty, and from what i have seen on this board people say they are very very reliable.

i also do a bit of drag racing, and my racing series just canned the bracket class, meaning i need to get to the 12.50 heads up class if i want to keep racing with them.

so any input would be great and very much appreciated. im sure you guys get questions like this all the time so sorry in advance!

what kind of suspension set up do you think? i was thinkin a BFG drag radial or mickey thompson tire shoud do it

honestly iv'e had great luck with just upper,lowers, and squat brackets ( che fixed polys ) and i ran the mt drag radials only reason im ditching them is im hoping to get 600ish on a " street tune " so stepping up to a 15" setup

i know this isn't some unreal 60' but i got 1.55 60' with a stick/turbo car , so i really dont make much boost off the line

but im swapping it up a lil to try to get that number down a lil lower

bmr race adjustable lowers
poly upper bushing ( pumpkin one )

so with the 400HP kit and the right tire suspension i should be close to the 12.50 mark. sounds good to me. and that S/C kit is pretty reliable?

im one to do lots of research on stuff form alot of angles.

and when i looked for f/i i was between the whipple kit and the powerhouse turbo kit and just decided i wanted turbo more but if i woulda went t/s it would have been whipple

lmao yep i said the same thing once i got my jlt intake/tune ...now im in double digits with this car and really have no appearance mods whatsoever lol

well i went the full bolt on route wiht my 04. UDPs, 4.10s mid pipe and mulitple cat backs, springs, wheels, tires, Drag Radials, two different tuners.

when i got this one, i knew i was gonna do the JLT and CAI and most likely exhaust. then i started racing competitively and the series im in cancelled the bracket class. so now i need to step up to the 12.50 index class eventually

Well people with Whipple HO's run 11.5's give or take so I would think the non-intercooled Whipple would run 12.50's easily.

I love my whipple and it has been 100% reliable for me over the last 12k miles on my DD. Clutch on the other hand sucks but that is another story.

I would recommend installing it yourself. The non-int whipple kit looks to be the easiest there is IMO.

Then all you'll need is some gauges, gauge pod, and a tune. Then later on you can buy a thump_rrr tensioner and 8-rib kit

I would spend a few more buck and get the H.O. kit. I have had mine for about a year with no problems. I was like you, thinking of getting the 400hp kit but everyone said get the H.O. kit -so I did and don't regret it one bit. I did the install myself and saved alot of money. I think it will cost you more money in the long run if you get the 400hp kit because the horsepower bug will bite and you will be buying the HO upgrade and costing you more money down the road. You are going to love the power!!!

I failed to realize you were auto, I know for a while the HO kit was not for auto trans. That may have changed, I'm not sure. I'm sure somone will fill us in.
