Drive shaft sale is suspended, for now at least.
it's a long story....but, anyway, i have two 4" aluminum drive shafts that were built locally that i'm putting up for sale
shaft A
4" shaft with 1310x1330 performance dynamics conversion ujoints. this is the first shaft that i bought which was built locally. when i originally bought this shaft, it had greasable light duty joints. i ran it probably 3 years. it didn't vibrate after having it balanced by driveshaft specialists (after the original builder did an insufficient job of balancing). i used this shaft as said for probably 3 years. after i started launching on slicks at the strip, i decided to upgrade to the better performance dynamic ujoints. after the upgrade and rebalance, the shaft picked up a slight vibe above 80mph..this is with 4.56 gears..up to about 115. at about 120, this shaft on my car vibrates at a rate which you probably wouldn't want to drive at for long. my desire is to do the texas mile, so i looked for a second drive shaft to fab up, which leads us to drive shaft B
shaft B
4" shaft. this shaft i purchased brand new from larry's drive shaft on ebay. i took it to driveshaft specialists (thrash) and had it shortened and rebalanced. it has straight 1330 spicer ujoints. this shaft acts exactly as drive shaft A does, slight vibe over 80 to 110, but not really drive-able for long at 120 or above. not really a surprise that they act the same as they were balanced by the same guy. i consider shaft B to be the better of the 2 drive shafts, at least in terms of strength.
i spoke with DSS about these drive shafts, and they will balance any shaft on their ultra high speed balancer for $150 plus shipping. my decision was instead of spending more money on either of these two shafts to go ahead and buy a shaft guaranteed not to vibrate so i can run the texas mile with confidence. my belief is that either of these two shafts, balanced on their ultra high speed machine, will produce a drive shaft that would do pretty well in terms of not vibrating, but i can't guarantee it.
so, i'm selling them cheap
shaft A, $125 plus shipping
shaft B, $150 plus shipping
both of these shafts will come with the pinion flange to make them work on your 8.8 mustang. some may be concerned about switching flanges out. i can only say, i've swapped mine numerous times without incident, despite what all the experts say about having a shop do the work
