No, thats OMFG

Dude.... I've never seen anything like that either man.. that's fucking insane. I wish you the best man, whatever you decide to do, but either way, take it easy and hopefully it turns out for the best. hell, you may win the lotto tomorrow. :thumb:

So it was a "new" motor, I guess it looks like total ring failure on that one piston, and they didn't seat right I guess. That is alot of rwhp for pump gas, I always run race gas when I race/dyno just for that added safety margin.

Very interested to hear exactly what happened once you figure this out in a few days.....

Sorry to hear about the failure.

It sounds like the rings lost tension (usually from the ring overheating during breakin). With no tension, that cylinder becomes a giant air pump forcing air into the block. The block can't vent that fast, so the pressure rises until something gives. One it does give, the pressurized air leaves the block very quickly and can take a lot of oil along with it.

It is interesting that it looks like all the problems where on one side of the block. Good luck getting to the bottom of this.

That is the plan right now. It's just frustrating as hell to spend well over $10k over 5 months, get it all set up, and have it fail massively when it's all done.

Been there, done that, second set of pistons for me :thumb2:

Like I said since it's pre-built, pull the accessory's off and send it back. Don't try to self diagnose, you paid for a running short block and that's what you should get.

Check the cat on the drivers side and make sure it's not restricting flow.

My point exactly - may not be your builder or tuner's fault if a cat failed.

This is not uncommon in highly boosted applications. Are you running OEM or Dynatech cats?

More than 1 engine has been lost due to a failed cat.

Sorry to hear about this, I think alot of us have had shit happen and its f**kin' devastating but take a step back, regroup and figure out what is broke and why it happened. It could be something as simple as a head gasket or worse broken rings/pistons. Keep us updated and Good Luck.

That would suck were it simply cat. I can tell you though, no matter what project you take on when it comes to cars, you will always run into some sort of problems. This just happens to be a bigger problem...Trust me this sort of thing happens to chevy, honda, toyota especially dodge guys...

When the vehicle was being tuned, did the tuner monitor the AFR on both banks?

FUCK MAN sorry to hear about this shit bro .....but like everyone said unless you get out of this hobby altogether you will always have gremlins , granted some worse than others but none the less it still sucks ass ......

Because of the gang of recent failures to a slew of the bigger built fellas on here I have been telling everyone I know that's thinking of going for broke just to keep the power low and do weight savings , suspension , and chassis stuff instead and get the times that way once you start getting into the upper 5's or higher you are always going to have some shit go wrong it just never fails

Sorry to hear this man. I had a Stefs oil separator that somehow got plugged up. Most of the oil blew threw the turbo, but it still spun a bearing.

If my new setup blows, I'll be going back to fox body push rods.

sorry for your luck. im understanding the let down, not as bad as you got but it sucks to spend all that time and money for stuff to go wrong. im still in need of new headgaskets after spending all the time and money on rebuilding mine.

Hang in there. If mine lets go I've already decided to sell my blower and misc parts and do a GT500 engine trans swap.
