Gear Shift Knob: Number enamel coming out

I have a 2011 GT with the stainless ball shift knob. The numbers are engraved and filled with a black enamel. MY "R" and "1" along with the lines connecting those have lost their enamel filler.

Any tips on fixing this? I was thinking about nail polish but wondered if there was a better option.

Nail polish would be perfect. Clean it out really good first.

I use nail polish on my Bullitt knob once every few years. You can even get Matte to match, my girl had exactly what I needed and did it last time, you cant tell
