That MSD unit is interesting. I just scanned through the pdf. If I understand correctly it's not a stand alone, just splices into the coil wires and still uses the factory ecu.

By any chance did you do any comparison to an LS coil conversion? I'm nowhere near needing more spark but am curious about the solutions in case I ever find myself facing that problem. 27psi is going to put your ignition system to the test!

Yes it does just splice in line.

No I did not check into the LS conversion.

I'm going to use a my 3.9 12 rib pulley and see where the boost goes to. It could be lower since my new intake, larger exhaust, CAI, polished head ports, and lager cams should flow a lot more air and make more power at a lower boost level.

That ignition is nice. When I get the 3.4L on and clean up all the wiring in the engine compartment maybe I'll get me one of those suckers.

Do you still have power steering on the car as well? I'm really digging the cai pipe.

I know right? I tried for hours the other day and could not post. Lito posted it right away and even with his help I could not figure it out! I really cannot understand why this is so hard. LOL

Tuning is going very well. I have been doing some data logs for Lito and he has the car running very well IMO at this point for what I have done to it. We have made a couple pulls from 2200 to 4800 and have made nice adjustments so far. This week some time I will start the 6500 rpm runs and go from there on the tune. I cannot say enough about how impressed I am with Lito and his skills. I just wish I had more time to get the pulls done. I have only been able to give him a pull a week or so due to my schedule. Hats off to him !:hi:

Some things to note.

1. The Lentec Strip Terminator may not be for everyone in a street car. With the line pressure set high all the time the drive train clunks on shifts when driving normal. Under WOT all is good. Doesn't bother me since the car is far from a DD, but matter for others interested in this trans.

2. Also the UPR tensioner is flawed. It is not holding the belt tight enough to put the needed pressure on the belt .I have seen at least 1 other member post it here. The set screw so the unit doesnt retract fully, or stopper, is not drilled at the correct point for the stock belt length. I have not contacted them about it since it has been in my garage for some time and if the was a mass issue, I think we would have heard of it by now. Either way I removed the set screw for now and all is well. The issue was that the belt , without enough tension, will squeal very loudly on start up.

3. Next is the ABS removal. I have a check brake system message that will not go away. It cannot be tuned out or shut off. I am still working on a fix. Jump in here if you have a suggestion.

4. I know there is more, but that is what comes to mind right now.

Other then that all I need is more time to data log.

I am seeing about 12 psi thus far at 4700 rpm and start making boost at a blip of the throttle. This is with the 4.3 pulley.

I feel very comfortable tuning on the road (driveway) vrs the dyno now. I have been driving it on the road some , just crusing though. I will have to admit , I was very nervous about this, since I have done very little data logging and such and knew nothing about remote tunes. I would almost recommend this type of tuning vrs the dyno tuning if you have the time and a good tuner to do it slowly and correctly. If not then a dyno tine with several follow up data logs. I have always just tuned on the dyno and trusted all was well. Maybe that was my fault, but if you don't know, then you just don't know.

I am starting to remember why I started all of this in the first place!

EDIT: And before anyone says it, YES, IT IS FUCKING DONE. Just tuning. LOL

Billy,

It's good to see that you are done and that you have hooked up with a good tuner. It will be done (tuning) before you know it.

Its no bull shit though. If you have a light that will not go away and you have tried everything, then what you do is, remove the dash cluster, open it, remove the face plate or "overlay", then place a piece of elec. tape over it and reinstall the overlay ect. and you have no more light. :thumb2:

Still a few "test" to do after the base tune though! I have a few "old school" (or not so old) tricks I want to test as mentioned before. Not to mention the cams with more lift and "bumpity bumpity"!

Should be fun to renew these tomorrow ! Well at least one of them, the inspection will have to wait till Sat. I think due to the expected rain.
