Kicking around the idea of selling my kb 2.6 stage 2 and going with either twin 76 turbos or a single 80+. I need to research turbo size, info and vendors.

My issue is that I would need an intake, coolant crossover different exhaust and other small pieces.

Would this swap be worth the headache? Anyone wanna swap?

I'm in the middle of it right now. Went from an S.T. Motorsports messaged 2.6H to a Twin 67mm turbo kit being built right now. I got some of the parts I needed from the guy who bought my KB kit and bought the rest.

What would the Twins offer that the KB isn't doing for you? Serious question. Your build is stout, just wondering why the drastic change.

Any nagging problems with the current setup or just a curiosity thing?

More usable power/tq on the street, more power on less boost, lower iat's, less stress on the motor/drivetrain to name a few.

Is this more 3V specific? Reason for asking is the Centri's and the Coyote's seem like a winning combo for a smaller pricetag and less work on installation. Seems like the PD blowers are falling behind in being "fast" on the track?

Just wondering. seriously.

No it's not 3V specific. Those arguments he mad hold true for pretty much any motor.

I know it's not a S197. But I'm adding a single turbo to my 1992 gt. I've been down the vortech and kenne bell route.
I've heard what Jeremy talked about. So that's why I am very excited for it!

Not going to do this anytime soon. I want to get this setup all tuned and running good. There is a lot of research that I need to do before committing to the change.
It will also give me something to do over the winter.

Ability to adjust boost from the wastegate instead of having to do a pulley swap, freed up power from not having to spin the supercharger ( I think that is what Jeremy was saying when he said less strain on the engine/drivetrain), better midrange power, looks badass and is something different.

I believe Jeremy was referring more to the "shock" that the instant torque of a PD blower puts on your drivetrain. A turbo will creep into power and be less abrupt, thus, less strain.

You're not incorrect at all, though, as the parasitic loss with a turbo is much less than that of a blower.

The blower puts stress on the crank shaft causing more deflection/harmonics throughout the rotating assembly as well.

I wonder how much, if any, an independent blower drive would reduce vibrations. Seems like "spreading" the rotational inertia to two drives might help to dampen those harmonics.

The KB 2.6 also maxes out on power rather quickly compared to other power adders. The most boost I can get out of mine is about 19lbs, which is relatively useless with the iats this thing generates.

I like the PD blower, so I was thinking of switching to a 2.8 mammoth in the future.

Even with a piggy back crank and dedicated drive its still all driven off the crank shaft. The dedicated drive just helps prevent belt slip and allows the blower to be spun harder with out the other accesories in the mix.

One of the reason I kept the stock crank for my turbo build im at 700+tq to the wheels so around 800+ at the crank. I wouldn't try than on a belt driven power adder.

I agree with Jeremy 100%

Thanks for letting us know that, I was wondering what your stand on the situation was. :)

I did the change due to running out of hp and not being able to go faster. I spun my KB as fast as it would go. That was about 840hp and it was out of water to even try and make steam. I got a great deal on 2 - Comp 67mm units and a couple other parts from the gents above.
