Going to a 3000 stall convertor ?s

I currently have, automatic, jlt intake, zex 125 shot, o/r H pipe, gibson axle back, stock convertor, and 3.55s.

I am buying a 3000 stall ptc convertor the first of the week. I run mt et slicks at the track. best 60 foot is a 1.85 on stock convertor. How much do you think convertor will cut off my 60 ft. and will I be pushing the limits of the stock 2 piece drive shaft?

i think your drive shaft will be ok. you should have alittle under 400 hp if you are spraying out of the whole. i have a few extra horses and i have been down the trackabout 100 times with the stock trans and i run the tach up to 2200 rpm. with the 3000 you will be able to get to 2900. but every car is different, so 500 could hold for one car and 350 could break another car. or you could get out of the whole and spray. good luck

When are you spraying? With a 3000 converter, slicks, and spraying right out of the hole, it may be a worth while consideration.

On the other hand, if you are not spraying until 2nd gear lets say, then your fine in my opinion.

When I was running the nitrous I always sprayed out of the hole. 3000 stall TCI, 4.10's and the stock driveshaft. Probably 50 runs on a 100 shot with 60's in the 1.57 - 1.58 range. Never had a problem with it.

I am spraying out of the hole I normaly set the window switch to come in after the convertor locks up i will probably set it to about 3100 or 3000s as long as its not bogging which i doubt it does with the extra torque from the gas. Thanks for the adive. Its defenitly on the list of future upgrades. just making sure I want be walking home from the track...

Adam, being an employee at PTC, I have seen lots of different combinations with these S197's.....

I do believe however, you will be fine...Like said above, every car is different...I leave at 6k on the stock driveshaft everytime in my 5-speed car....But, not as much power as you.....I still believe you will be ok....Plenty of guys running our converters spraying off the line, and are not having issue's......

in my 06 auto w/4:30 gears I'd spray out of the hole with no converter and never had a problem the car ran 12.60's on the motor and 11.70's @117 w/1.59 60' with a 75 shot NX kit the zex kit hits harder out of the hole but the NX kit made more mph so they both averaged out to the same et's for me and my son's car (he had the zex) and on a 100 shot we kept burning the tops of the HTO's off and at 75 we didn't.
