Just wondering those of you who have a few buddies or you personally used to/ still own an SN-95/new edge GT, what did you upgrade your brakes to? A friend of mine is looking for some slotted rotors and new pads for his 04 GT. He's already resurfaced them twice, which is another question.. How many times can they be resurfaced? Or is it just dependent on the condition of the rotor after it's been resurfaced so many times.. Thanks for the help.

Resurfacing slotted rotors is tricky and not many shops will do it--the blade has this tendency to catch in the slots. I just replaced an older set of slotted rotors and Hawk HPS pads after 55k miles of use in my '97. The pads had a little left on them but the rotors were shot. Hitting the brakes resulted in some serious vibration from the front end. No shop, including my son's, would resurface them so I went next store to an auto parts store and bought those low end Brembo OEM style replacement rotors, and a fresh set of Hawk pads. After a month, I frankly can't tell the difference in stopping ability compared to the much more expensive former slotted rotors. Not empiracal by any means but something to consider.

By the way, the '97 GT is my daily driver with 110k. Love it just as much as the '05.

Thanks for the help man. I'll tell him to look into that. I need mine resurfaced too, but I'll just save up for some. And I didn't know you had another stang, that's pretty bad ass! My aunt crashed the 98 we used to have.. It was only a 3.8 but that thing was kept very clean and after 6 years only had like 34K miles.

I have hawk brake pads and powerslot rotors on the cobra. They are pretty good.
