Got A Coyote? Can You Help Me With Something?

We’re working on our Coyote supercharger kits right now. We’re using our S550 top work off of. We came up with a really nice belt/tensioner setup that we are real happy with. Then I noticed in a picture of a “older” Coyote that the front/timing engine cover was not the same. And the difference makes it so we would have to come up with a slightly different solution.

When I got home I looked under the hood of my 2012 (late year build) and the cover is the same as the 2015. Good sign, but then what year Coyotes have the “old style” cover? Just the 2011’s? I don’t know. And I need to know so I can figure out how I’m going to solve this.

Can you guys do me a favor. Can you take a peek under your hood and check to see what cover you have for me? All you need to do is pop the hood and look.

What I am looking at is the passenger side.

My 2012 and 2015 have a cover that looks like this. There is a threaded hole for a tensioner (used on the trucks) and no “ribbing” like the “old” covers. We will call this cover “A”.

The “older” covers look like this. Note there is no threaded hole for the tensioner and there is all sorts of ribbing cast into it. We will call this cover “B”.

Can you take a look for me and then post up what year your car is and if it has a A or B cover?

It looks like the 2011's came with the B cover and 2012's built before Jan 2012. Everything after that has the A cover. At least that is how it is supposed to work.

If you order a new cover now, even for a 2011 you get a A cover from Ford.

Now I need to get a gander at a B cover inside and out to see if it can be modded to work with the belt/tensioner arrangement we have set up. And I can't just order one from the dealer because I will get an A cover.

Oh man, that rocks! Can you pop some pics front and back for me? Once you do that I will put some arrows in to show you where I need a couple of measurements. Basically what I need to figure out is if the "pad" that is cast into the cover on the PS for the truck tensioner has enough meat in it to be drilled and tapped. The A covers come that way.

In this pic of cover B I put a red dot where I need to drill/tap a 10mm hole for a tensioner. If you look at the pic of cover A you will see it has one from the factory (but M8). Can you check that cover you have and let me know how much meat I have to play with there? Thanks man!

The depth of the meat is 1.2"

I'm going to have to get my hands on one of those. Too bad I can't just get one at the Ford dealer.
