Yes, thermal runaway like an old nicad battery. Almost done now just a few more extensions and pretty it up. What an amazing result tho

That didn't take you that long really. What did you use to connect the extended wires? Solder? "Un-jacketed" butt connectors? Did you stagger all your cuts? Did you shield anything?

I'm trying to learn here.

About 50 hours but I am anal.

Staggered, all metal butt connectors crimped/soldered and covered in adhesive lined heat shrink. Only three wires from factory were shielded but I had some left over from building my fuel pump harness. Plugs all De-pinned (label maker is a must).

Few other things here and there. Only thing till me a while to decide was where to put the BEC. I really did not want to put it in the battery location (and did not). Real estate was a problem. I also have two (yes two) painless wiring kits tucked under the dash where the BEC would normally go if moved inside. I then realized I honestly never...never put anything in the glove box. So, screw it. I decided I will trim out the back half on the rear wall of the glove box. I can still keep my owners manual and maybe a .45 in there if I wanted to lol. Nice thing is I won't have to crawl around on the ground to access the BEC. Just open the glove box and shit is right there.

Just make sure you are not ripping out anything that should be there (fusible links

I use aircraft grade abrasion proof jacket where possible. The 2ga wire from the alt goes under the manifold so it is covered in abrasion proof jacket plus encased in dei where it goes under the manifold. The ends are also encased in adhesive lined heat shrink.

Crimped and soldered? Do you have a link to the metal butt connectors? I just switched over to them, curious what you're using.

and covered in adhesive lined heat shrink.
Adhesive lined? Sounds cool. Link?

What are you using for a de-pinning tool(s)?

What is the BEC?

Bussed Electrical System (BEC...fuse box under hood)

I buy my heat shrink tubing at Fastenal. Comes in all sorts of size, composition and color for that matter

I buy my butt connectors at a local place here called Poormans. They sell Pico brand which is about middle of the road on most things but good quality.

They come in all sizes

If I was going to just slap shit together I would have done a turbo lol (yes, SOME do look nice but that has everything to do with the mechanic). That and I like to bust my buddy's nuts lol

I'll have to have my guy get me some of that!

I can't remember what brand mine are, but they look the same. I got the super special crimpers to go with them. they have been working out real well. When I first got them I tried to pull some connections apart.......um, nope.

Are you soldering them too?

I'm sitting here trying to think of ways to make something to hide the injector/coil wires in. Like a second "fuel rail" or something.

Lol.. I have been thinking of designing a system like my bmw where the whole injector and cop system connectors are in a rail and it all snaps down clean. Lots of effort.

I am going over tomorrow and going to experiment with machining a tube like another fuel rail for my connectors just as you mentioned (like minds).

I crimp and solder. Best electrical connection period.

I also use the heat shrink tubing to pretty all my lines where possible. Here is my fresh air line that goes to the passenger valve cover. I love the oem quick fittings and retained all of them in my system including the one for the pcv that goes on the side of the blower

I might have Vorshlag do a milspec wiring harness for my car. Either that or I'm going to go way overboard and make a continuous wiring harness.

Any pics of the finished engine bay? Is the car ready to dyno?

HURRY!!!! lol

This weekend will be done. Seems every 30 minutes I create an hour more work. Ocd... I took Wednesday thru Sunday off this week. Plenty of time

Right now I am De pinning the crank, cam, oil pressure, vct, starter ground and all the crap I can to pull it all thru my nice looking abrasion proof wire jacket. I loath the way that plastic loom shit looks.

Absolute best 3V build I've seen with ALL the trimmings. I like pretty things. LOL! Powerful, clean, and done CORRECTLY!

I'm excited for you and know all your hard work and money will be worth it all. If THIS build don't make you happy, you're a broken man. LOL!!!!

Bruised and broke but not broken lol

This winter it will all come back out so I can further satisfy my ocd. I have a need to get this done now or would have done full engine bay treatment and paint.
