So I went to this junk yard that wants your stock undamaged hood in trade for a new GT500 hood already factory painted. They want the hoods for insurance reasons.
So I took the trip about 100 miles one way and traded my hood straight across and no cash at all. It only cost me gas money for the trip (no big deal). American Muscle retails the hood for $800 unpainted. Later on I do want to put the GT500 front end on my car.
This junk yard would run an ad on craigslist, that's how I found them. I attached it below, so that anyone in SoCal can try to get one too.

I tried contacting that place a couple years ago after reading a thread they posted on a forum, but never heard back from them. I wish I still had my stock hood so I could trade for a black one.

Not trying to be a dick, but in that picture, the paint doesn't look like it matches. Maybe it is just the lighting/pic?

WHY did Ford have to create that bump up to the front edge over the grill on GT500 hood?!? I'd be running one right now if it didnt

Just noticed this. Makes it look very unfinished on a non GT500 in my opinion.

It does look like the paint is slightly different, but could be the lighting. Regardless that is a good trade, are you planning on doing the GT500 front conversion anytime?

Mostly because of the light. Remember the hood is new and was in a box, the car has been exposed to the weather. It's pretty close to matching. One day I'll get the car repainted.

I guess south east Florida is out of the question. That's a great freebie. Including install, too. Talk about good service!
