How much power does an x or h pipe realisticly add? Im just curious b/c I have thought about an off road h-pipe, but didnt know if itd really be worth the money. I plan to do udp, and 4.10 gears sometime soon, and didnt know if an off road h would help. Ive heard that the off road x pipes sound terrible. What are your thoughts?

so you got another 2 hp at 6500 rpm because you went x or h or whatever you decided.. unless yer runnin 22 psi i don't think it's going to matter.. go for SOUND.

sorry for the rant.

ii'm convinced H will SOUND better than X when you go cat-less, so this is going to be my next purchase:

I agree. All axlebacks, IMO, sound good with an O/R H, but only straight thru design mufflers sound good with the O/R X.

I would just wait and go with long tubes and your choice of mid pipe. Check out the pacesetter long tube/h pipe deal they have at stage 3 motorsports. Thats what im going with but im working on my cars diet and suspension first.

i like the idea of a long tube/midpipe combo as well..

just an FYI: i got a set of pacesetter headers to solve the '01 V6 mustang tick at startup (cracked header flange, they all do it)

the pacesetter header connected with the block at the collector flange. this created the same sound i was trying to correct, as the header did not completely contact the head! they knew this was coming because they sent these big 2" thick gaskets! (remember the OE gasket is metal, and about .0001" thick) Even with the massive gasket, you still couldn't get it tight enough.

and they sent bolts to replace all of the exsisting header studs, but as anyone that's been a ford tech knows, the less of those you have to remove: the better, as they don't mind snapping off flush with the head any day of the week.. so i chose to throw all the "new sweet'' bolts away.. i know why they sent the new sweets! cause the headers they sent me are so poorly designed they will hit a few of the OE exhuast studs.. so i ended up having to slightly modify a few of them to get the headers on.

bottom line: pacesetter header made for quite a headache for me, and they still tick like the original broke header did

You got the most hp with hi-flows? Like hi flow mufflers? slp or sumthin?

07 boss runs the pacesetters and has nothing but good things to say about them. I just liked the price of the ceramic ones plus a couple of ls1 friends have them and liked them as well. I had a couple of bbk headers for my old fox both shorty's for the 302 and long tubes for the 351 swap and both had fitment issues. Well its either going to be the pacesetters or hooker's

the sound alone is worth the money but you will lose some low end due to reducing back pressure. you will pick up some of the lost power on the top end and raise the rpm for max power.

If your thinking about getting longtube headers down the line then you should wait on getting a new x/h pipe because once you get the longtubes you will need a shorter midpipe to hook up to them. Thats what i did and it sounds amazing, and has the extra hp from longtubes.

I'm in a dilemma on deciding between an O/R H or O/R Prochamber. Right now the only thing I have are the MAC Axle backs. Any suggestions guys?
