Hard Crank, High RPM Driving, Please Help?

Hi everyone so my apologies in advance if some stuff I say in this sounds dumb or nooby, my 5.0 is still relatively new to me as are my attempts to figure out my car issues myself rather than default to a shop like I did with my eco boost in the past.

So I have an auto 2013 5.0 that’s given me no real issues in my 5 months of ownership so far, however yesterday and today it was struggling to crank and the dash was going crazy while I cranked it.I ignored it yesterday however the problem was a bit more profound this morning. As I was driving to work this morning, my car was sitting at 3-4k rpms practically the whole drive. It was like the car would only climb in gears and wouldn’t come down until I came to a complete stop. Once I made it to work, I decided to pull some codes with my scanner. Here’s what I pulled: P060A, P1636, P2107, U0300. Any and all advice and insight would be greatly appreciated!

FWIW if you can't look up codes, I'm not. Crazy dash first checks for we would be battery condition, battery cable condition and alternator output.

Start with the simple stuff first.

Hard starts can be due to a dead cell. Your voltage might be good but still have a bad battery. Get it checked at Pep Boys, Auto Zone etc etc

Crazy Dash can be that your alternator is bad specifically your voltage regulator. Use a digital multi meter on your battery and read the voltage with the AC full blast. See if it is operating outside the required voltage for your car.

As far as the gears and climbing that's new to me, never heard of it. Could be a serious issue with the pcm OR transmission. I'd start with the simple stuff.


Your codes are telling you PCM....and throttle body. I'd look at throttle body to start with. Rpms not coming down could be a sticking throttle body.
