This is my 1st attempt at posting a video, hopefully it works. If it works you will see me in my SuperSnake at VIR with NASA in HPDE 3. Just getting the hang of the track and the car with the new mods. I think I am a little quicker than the Vette that I follow most of the video because I catch him 3 times. In the future I will push a little harder to get by. It was alot of fun out there.

Nice, thanks for posting. I was just at VIR this past Monday and Tuesday. Awesome track.

Any idea what speed you were hitting on the back straight? What about thru the uphill esses?

Keep in mind that stock C5s (non-Z06) have around 320RWHP and weigh in the neighborhood of 3400 lbs. Quick but no match for your fire breathing dragon. The C5 Z06 has about 360-370RWHP. But the C6Z06, well now we are talking, they are beasts.

Thnx. My best speeds on the back straight were just over 160. That was done in the last session with no one in front of me. The yellow vette I was following was a prepared car. I don't know vettes that well so I don't remember if it was a Z06 or not because I've run with both in my last few track events. My car weighs in right at 4000# w/o me in it and i am well over 250 so it is hauling some weight down the track.

take care,

BJ

Nice to see that some people will still drive their cars even though they have signatures on the dash and are not a dime a dozen. Im Jelly!!!

Wow...that is hauling the mail. I can get to a max of about 140 there if I come out of oak tree really hard, but usually dont have the nads for it...LOL.

I know what you mean. It took me a while to keep my foot in it over the crest of the hill on the back straight. It's hard to do it when you can't see where you are going. I love that track.

BJ, looking good man!! I enjoyed your video and watching you chase the Corvettes. I'm looking forward to running VIR with you next year. Yellow vettes? It's the gray ones you need to watch out for. LOL! I think you met my friend, Jack, in the yellow vette with the black tail and rear wing. Was that NASA instructor, Jack McAfee, at 9:20 in the video? What mods have you added since the last time I saw you at VIR? Great driving. Mike

Mike, Great to hear from you! Thnx for the kind words. That was Jack in the black tailed Vette. I am finally getting to where I can attack the track. Still leaving time in a few spots, but it is getting better. I put the full Griggs RT system on the rear and the yellow adjustable Koni coil overs on the front, as well as adjustable camber plates and the Torsen T2-R limited slip. I am running 2.5 degrees negative camber on the front.

WOW what a difference the Griggs rear makes! The rear end is completely planted now. I can actually use the power I have coming out of the corners. I really want to do the full Griggs front end. In addition to the suspension geometry improvements, it takes much needed weight off the nose of the car. I have 2 in college now so we will see. I look forward to seeing you out there this year.

I ran Road Atlanta in December. Have you ever run that track? It's alot of fun too. Turn 12 had me really spooked for the 1st day. By day 2 I was passing people in that corner. It is a helluva roller coaster ride.

Happy New Year!

BJ

BJ, sign up for the SVT Cobra Mustang Club (SCMC) event this May at VIR - 3 days on the Full Course!!

I'm leaning towards taking the Mustang vs. the Corvette.

I created a video of our two cars doing a lap around the VIR full course circuit that might help you reduce your lap time.

I'm struggling in the long straights vs. your power (2.0 to 3.0 seconds)....the Grand Course "might" help me some. lol

Hey Mike, Good to hear from you. I plan on doing the SVT event in May. Maybe just Fri and Sat. Remember Gillian's nephew is Ryan Hunter-Reay and I think we are oing to have to go to Indy this year. I got a pass last year. Pls bring the Mustang. I would like to do some fast laps with something other than a Vette, GT3 or GT-R.

I can't find you Trackdaze video. Can you send me a link or give me a little more info.

Thnx

Bill

Bill, I posted the video of us in our Mustangs at VIR full course above at post #11. It's one lap around so you can compare our lines, etc. I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts about the circuit, lessons learned and trying out a few new techniques. The SCMC event will be awesome - as usual. I think I'm going to bring the Corvette since it was down for 1/2 the season for maintenance. Mike

What lap times were you guys putting down at VIR full?

My lap times were 2.19. BJ was doing 3 seconds faster on average based on my review of the video. I think its time to move from the old Koni series Hoosier scrubs to a new set of Hoosier R6s for the stang. My goal is to help get BJ's lap times down to where he can really play with the Corvettes.... did I say that?? LOL

Awesome video. I can't wait for them to finish the Circuit of the Americas in my own backyard!
