help! broken center bolt in carrier

if that doesnt work when i worked for ford i used to use a right angle die grinder with a drill bit in it. i cant remember what size drill bit fit in the chuck but it was small enough to drill and then use an easy out in. there is loc tite on that bolt from the factory so sometimes those other extraction kits wont get it. if you have the carrier positioned so the pin is facing outward there should be just enough room.

broke the easy out off in the carrier. i'm going to bolt it all back together and go to plan A. i'm going to take it to a local shop and have them install a truetrac and be done with it. i don't care if they have to break the carrier to get it out of the housing, i just don't want them to hurt my gears.

well, i been trying to make up my mind what to do with this deal. after looking at all the options and talking to local shops, i pulled the whole housing out of the car last night to make it a little easier to work on. i also ordered a truetrac and should get it in a few days. i have a friend that's going to help me make sure the backlash on the gears is right when i put it all back together. i figured after doing all this work i didn't want to go back with just a beefed up stock lsd and then have to be doing this again next year.

You can re-use the carrier bearings if you like, they can be a bitch to remove sometimes and possibly get damaged. The stock carrier shims are one piece and hardly ever work out when using a new diff. I have found that this kit and the adjustable shim pack, make a diff swap very easy. Glad to see you sticking with it...
