Saw that on some other forums. I wonder how they were able to get that stretch closed.

Yeah for Chevy... They are still slower than a factory GT500 that costs half of what that heavily modified Corvette costs. How many freaking miles did it take to get them up to 200mph?

Sorry Mustang bretheren, Corvette or not, everything about that video is pure win! Love the last shot from inside the Challenger police car.

I agree.

If you notice, they were also "testing" the toll system to see if it could catch a car at those speeds. That might have a little bit to do with how they were able to get the support of the local authorities.

They did the same thing before they opened the other section of toll road with the 85 mph speed limit. Hennessey brought 2 cars for that one, a ZL1 Camaro and a 1200 HP CTS-V. The CTS-V hit 224 mph in the one mile stretch they used.

And the toll tag system still worked.

How can it possibly take that aerodynamic vette over 700hp to get to 200mph?
When the brick shaped gt500 can get into the 198 area with 650?

The chest hair slows it down.

Let us not forget how heavy gold is, as well.

Pretty sweet video though. The part of that road by my house is now open, apparently.

I was wondering that too. I thought maybe it was to freeze the ticker on the GPS box at 200.6mph, but it seems there would be a safer/easier way of doing that.
