I bought a used set of hot rod cams and I noticed that the part number engravings are different than the old hot rod cams I had last year.
I know both sets are hot rod cams per their manual but anybody knows why there are two different versions and what are the differences?

Here is the description from the manual.
a. RH camshaft p/n: XE-6251-309994 (between lobes) or 3701A (backside of last lobe)
b. LH camshaft p/n: XE-6C255-309995 (between lobes) or 3702A (backside of last lobe)

The ones I had last year had XE part numbers engraved between 1st and 2nd lobes. The ones I just got have 3701A, 3702A engraved on backside of last lobe.

I don't understand the issue, they just changed the way they are labeled at some point.

I know there aren't any issue. I'm not worried. I'm just curious if anybody knows any details on this since there are minor difference not just on labeling but also on where the sprocket goes.

How is it different where the cam phaser sits?

To me it seems like they have different sized groove for the phaser or am I just crazy? Using a retail photo isn't probably good comparison. Again, I'm just curious. Not so much detail but What i found out is looks like the recent production have the label engraved on the last lobe. Like jeremy said, they prolly just changed the way they label them. Different factory maybe. That was my worthless piece of info for those who is wondering the same thing. :booring:

They look different at that spot because the cams are different lengths on each side. That's normal.
