I'd really like to come out and meet you guys, but I'm gonna be in Fontana. I have a little grudge race going with a 68 GT/CS that has run a best of 11.9 with a carbureted 347 stroker.

I'll be there Saturday.

Come hell or high water, I plan to make two or three runs down the track, but I need to barrow some drag tires. Anyone?

Mister Roper don't wuss out. LOL

Ed,

I'm going to be swapping out my M&Hs next week for a new set. There is most likely enough rubber on the old pair for a few passes. Maybe we can figure out a way to get those mounted on your wheels before then.

I still have the other wheels with the old worn out drag tires on them. When you do let me know. I can come pick them up.

I just might take you up on that . How particular are they about rollbars? My rear/crossbar is removable.

When I had my full cage done and needed the cert I had to weld mine in but before that, all I did was throw a cheap pad over the bar that hid the disconnects. Never once did anyone ever ask me to remove the pad and I passed tech at barona, Irwindale, and Fontana like that for a long time so just put a pad over it and you will have no issues at all...

Are you still planning on being there next weekend?

Don;

There is a good chance I am going to go both days. I just haven't decided if I want to go to fontana instead yet. Fontana is running on sat and I am hearing they are actually going to prep the track. Still debating but will let you know by Monday.

Pfffttt... time trials at Fontana against a bunch of imports, rather than real bracket competition at Barona against a bunch of race cars. What are you thinking? :wtf: :roflmao:

LOL - maybe. But the fact is I still need 2 more full passes for my license and if I drive all the way to barona and get in the brackets, I am going to be pissed if they throw me out the first pass.

I am trying to coordinate with Ken to get the last 2 passes done at Irwindale next thursday and then I'll be good but that's the main thing I'm looking at now. If I can't get to irwindale, then I'm going to want to finish my license passes at fontana on sat.

You could always get the last two in at Barona, before the brackets start.

I thought about that but the question is will they honor the paperwork without the physical license from the glendora NHRA office?

Meaning, will they let me run after the two passes, or will they say I need to get the actual license from glendora first?

If they will honor it instantly, then I will do it there on sat morning.

Hey Mark,

I'd love to meet up with you at Fontana, but I think they don't allow anyone to run under 10.00 on Street Legal days. But I'll see you on the 13th.

This from California Speedway's website:

10-Second Rule: There is a 10-second flat ET rule. No cars quicker than 10 seconds will be allowed. (If you need an NHRA Competition License to drive your car at an NHRA Drag Strip, it is too quick for California Dragway during a Street Legal event.)

The track manager said I could do license passes on the street legal days. Mainly because I have to run solo during the passes. It's not a problem and they'll let me run but I just have to run solo.

Don - barring the weather, I will be knocking out the passes at irwindale thursday with ken and ron, picking up the license friday, and will be there both days...
