So I wanted to ask: How do you guys deal with driving a low mustang.
Same as with any other low car - very carefully.

The cheapie solution is to just suck it up and deal with the occasional scraping (and the occasional repair).

Better shocks/struts might help. Stiffer springs would definitely help, but would probably change your ride height as well.

I once had a car that the lowest point stretched almost the whole width of the car and would not clear a standard 12-oz beer can laying on its side (just barely missed hitting the skinny Coors cans). I made several front sta-bar brackets that got ground into two pieces for that car, and that was with being careful.

Going from non-pressurized shocks to gas-pressure shocks absolutely will raise the car up slightly. Or from gas-pressure shocks that the gas has all leaked out of to fresh ones.

I try to plan out my route in advance and avoid areas that have been a problem before. If I take the speed bump a little too fast the front end compresses a bit and I will bottom out. I have to go slow enough so that the suspension doens't compress. As long as I do that I am fine. Most other small dips and such I take on an angle.

I am kinda curious though.

Why did you have "your dumbass mechanic" install coilovers if you didn't want your car to be LOW? I find these kind of posts very amusing.

After reading the title and initial post, I thought for sure this was going to be posted in tech.

Looking at your apparent ride height, I am going to guess that you are scraping on your exhaust that may be poorly hung. Get that exhaust tucked up as much as possible, making sure the hangers aren't bent down or anything like that and I bet a lot of your scraping issues go away. Beyond that, just learn to not take speed bumps straight on and you should be able to avoid just about all the scraping situations.

I have only scraped once with sportlines, I still want to go more low, that was when I pulled out of my driveway ,not going in reverse, and scraped my exhaust.

I scrape when I try to drive over curbs, but other than that, I'm golden!

I do the following:

1. Identify road irregularity
2. Disengage throttle
3. Apply brakes accordingly and slow down under 5 mph
4. Glide over bump
5. Gently apply pressure to accelerator
6. Resume normal drive exercises

+1
i notice people getting frustrated at me for going so slow over speed bumps. they give me a hugely sympathetic look if i scrape though. LOL
there are some bumps that i will scrape no matter what, just live with it, OP. get to know the roads and avoid dips, bumps, etc. steep driveways are killer for me though, especially being in an area i am unfamiliar with.
i love being low. can't complain when the stance of your car is badass!

Ok I figured people would say I was a bitch or didnt know how to drive my car but it stands as this:

I do take dips and everything at an angle. Im not scraping my front end. When i go over some tall or overly long speedbumps, something under my car is bottoming out ad=nd leaving some serious gouges in the pavement.

And I agree Im not that low cause I have seen tons of cars lower than mine. Im sure it would help to be on a 19" or 20" wheel but I am currently running on 18"s and looking for a solution.

For whoever asked which grill I have, it is the chrome billet grille that I got tired of it being chrome so I sprayed it with plastidip.

And yea I gave the coilovers a kinda bad review on AM, but that was a bit premature because the guy who installed my coilovers never trimmed my bumpstops so I was hitting them over every bump and the ride was a nightmare.

Im actually trying to sell my H&Rs because I hurt my back in a rock climbing accident and the ride is too harsh for me now. Looking to get something that is adjustable.

And yea I do have the ability to adjust my rideheight, just no equipment to do so at my current residence.
