Battery last?Tried to start the car today, dead battery. I know i have not driven it in about a week but dam. Its the original battery, which is about 4 years old now. Not driven in the winter, battery not trickle charged, started about 3 times a winter. Is this a normal life expectancy? Also, do I have to reload my tune since the car went dead?

i had the same problem last year the guy at ford told me if my windows weren't perfectly shut, that the car will try to shut them and eventually the battery just dies. i dont know if it was just bs, just to get me out of there. but i still have the same battey in since 06.

Mine gave me a whole year of reliable service.

Mine lasted 2 years. Got it replaced under warranty for another ford battery in 08 and that one gave out a few weeks ago.

nah no issues man. When mine died, I didn't reload the tune and it was fine.

No. The program (aka: tune) is stored in a nonvolatile form of memory called "flash" (aka: "flashing the PCM"). It doesn't require battery power to hold the program in any way, shape or form.

Thanks. Also what would you guys suggest as far as replacement. Motorcraft, Napa, or Optima? They all seem to be around $90

I have the original battery in the car. 06 model. Has been deep cycled a few times. Still starts the car OK.

Almost every vehicle I have owned, the battery dies after 3-4 years. When my mustang battery went bad, I replaced it with a motorcraft battery since i didn't want to wait for a lightweight replacement.

my factory battery died about 8 months after I bought the car. New one after that is still going strong.

05 and still goin. Albeit I have had a couple of bouts with suprising me by dying, but after finding out bout a radio glitch haven't had any more death trips.
