I am replacing the upper grill and putting the fog lights behind the grille, I noticed on the lower grill that alot of the honeycombs are solid. Has anyone opened these up? Could I start out with a small drill bit and maybe finish up with a dremil? (sp).... Thanks!

I think on this site I saw a dude use a hack saw the on the lower grill. He didn't drill a hole from the axis you're thinking (Y) but more like the X axis if the lower grill was sitting on your lap. He said it wasn't as hard as he thought it might be. I've cut on this plastic myself and can tell you that it'll look like total ass at first. When you've done all your cutting find a rough file to smooth everyhing out. I'd also mask everything you don't want the saw to touch. It doesn't take much to marr plastic.

I'll see if I can did that DIY for you.
Good luck,

I don't want to cut the grill up just open up the solid honeycombs. I was at a autocross event over the weekend and a guy with a roush 427 mustang had done this to his grill, at that point in time, I didn't ask him how he did it. Thanks guys.

I did mine using drilled holes at the ends and then using a Coping saw to cut out the honeycombs. Masked the flats to protect. Then using a file to clean up the sawed edge. Truth is, it was a lot of work and almost NO ONE ever even notices it. It is so low that you cannot see it unless you are standing in the next row at a cruise or show. I did it for cooling and looks.
I have seen guys just saw the back of the honeycombs in one operations and that looks the easiest but hardest to control. In the end do it for you and nothing else.

Yeah, I got that. I'm just saying that instead of cutting a honeycomb at a time, you use a coping/hack saw to cut them from the back at once. I think this method would look more even and uniform than doing 14-16 individual honeycombs by drilling/dremeling, etc... You're slicing the back part as opposed to making holes in the solid honeycombs.

After you cut it like that does it want to stay in place with those tabs being cut off ? I've got the CDC spoiler on the front, does that help hold it in ?

Wow thats amazing how to do that, well once I had the grille out I just changed it out to a bar billet grill, if I could figure out how to post pictures easily I would post one, glad I changed out the grille, was able to keep the fog lites, mounted them behind the grille. Thanks guys for all your help and suggestions.
