Anyone else notice a huge loss of low end power with the addition of an offroad H pipe? It seems like it opened a lot up power way up high, but it's a dog down low now.

The car also has this wierd hissing noise now, I can't tell where it's coming from. I need to get under there and make sure everything is tight.

And loud? Holy shit it's loud now. I scare old people on the street now, lol

Just wanted to hear from others...

That seems to be a big complaint with both X and H on the 5.0. Seems that people swear they lose low end and gain top end. Seems like that with most mods on these motors. Same with the Boss intake. A lot can do with having a leak though.

if it was installed correctly, put it on a dyno and for sure it's doing that. I have not seen any of that. You have to remember that these are top end motors.

Top end for sure, but it would go sideways when shifting 1-2 and 2-3 every time even half throttle. Now, it's a dog until it gets to at least 3rd.

Not a huge deal, but I'm a fan of nasty low end power, I don't get to 130 mph too often

The hissing is normal with O/R pipes you will bust your head trying to find a leak that doesn't exist. mine goes away after 1500rpm.
I didn't feel a loss when I installed my o/r x but I got an updated tune for it.
also pulled harder up top but no noticable loss.

Update the tune. Mine was a PIG initially until I had the tune updated. No more PIG riding for me! It hauls the mail now!!!!

The problem is, some peeps say that you only have to turn off the O2's and the tune is done. And some turn off the O2's when you first tune the car, even without an offroad pipe.

It might be time to try another tune(r)

It's a bit more than just the o2's to be turned off when you go O/R-X

The OP has a 2011 Mustang with wideband front 02 sensors. There isn't any need for a retune when adding an off road X or H as long as the rear 02's have already been turned off. OP I didn't notice any loss of low end power with the addition of my off raod X pipe and didn't need any additional tuning when adding it as I already had the rear 02's turned off in the tune. The last time my car was on the dyno it made 408 rwhp and 406 rwt with just a tune and off road X with no tune revision after adding the X pipe.

Mine ran 381 with CAI, Tune, Boss Intake and axle back. It ran in 3rd gear though.

The car ran like a raped ape, went sideways on each shift, even thought its an auto.

Now, the thing is a dog until almost 4k, then it opens up.

Well, I put the stock mufflers on to test the low end, and it seemed like I got all my low end back. BUT it sounds too ricey and muffled like that, and the tips are too small. Now I'm frustrated. I might end up taking off the h pipe and selling it.

If you have the O2's turned off, which Lund does by default on all of his tunes you should be fine.

what I would do is contact him and see if COT is turned off (Catalyst overtemp), what that does is send extra fuel to cool down your cats, since they don't exist... waste of fuel.

If you turn the rear 02's off doesn't it automaticly turn off the COT as there would be nothing for the COT to read with the rear 02's not functioning?

depends on what youre tuning with. Lund doesn't tune completely with SCT.

I can shut off the rear O2's by going into the tables directly with my CarDaq and not shut off COT.

Lund automatically shuts off rear O2's on all of his tunes, but I'd say it is a fair assumption (I could be wrong) that he keeps COT on, as not everyone who runs his tunes, has an OR pipe.

Although, in counter to what I just said, Lund is big one building one size fits all tunes.

How would the COT function be activated with the rear 02's being turned off? If they are turned off how would the COT function know the cats were too hot as it gets the reading from the rear 02's. No reading equals no COT function.

because the rear o2s are technically never turned off per se. Or else you would fail catalyst readiness testing for emissions. most.good calibrators just set the parameters for the cel to go off to insane parameters.

And before you ask the next question, how do you pass an OBDII emissions test without cats... well I just told you above :D
