I need a helmet...

Any recommendations on a decently priced helmet? I'm wanting a solid black finish for sure thats Snell certified. I had to use my friends medium sized helmet after I ran my 8.502 and it was a TIGHT ASS FIT! It gave me horrible ass headaches afterwards. I'm thinking either large or XL...but how exactly do I go about determining the correct size for me? Go by hat size? IMO, I want a perfect fitting helmet thats not to tight nor to loose...perfect!

You can go to motorcycle shop and look at what they have or at least try some on to get a idea of your size.

i got my helmet on ebay for 90 bucks. its the latest Snell certification i think 2005 certified so im good for a few years without a problem. it came in many colors, including painted designs but i got silver with black accents

Get a seamstress tape, wrap it around your head. Position it across your forehead an inch above your eyebrows. Position the rest of it just above your earlobes.

Be carefull most MS helmets are not Snell certified.

I read on the Snell website that Painting the rated helmet voids the Snell rating because the SA helmets are fire rated and paint is flammable which is not good in a fire situation.

NHRA 2006 Regs state Snell 95 or better.

10.5 HELMET
Drivers in all 13.99 (*8.59) or quicker cars, and Dune buggy type vehicles running 14.00 (*8.60) seconds or slower must wear a helmet meeting SNELL 95 or SFI 41.1A Specs or BSI BS 6658-85 type A (including all amendments) Specs. Driver's in supercharged front-engine open-bodied cars must wear a helmet meeting SNELL SA95, or SFI 41.1 Specs or BSI BS 6658-85 type A (including all amendments) Specs. I dunno, I like them all. The yellow is pretty tight, but a little more than the others...if they are all fine it's a hard decision...

There are rules regarding the rating of the helmet and when they expire. Make sure it's a 2005 rating. M2005 is motorcycle rating. SA2005 is car rating. Some tracks permit motorcycle helmets. Some do not. The motorcycle helmets usually cost less.
