I'm confused now... Why does my rear look totally different than a reg GT rear, and why does my window sticker say Torsen?

Your diff cover will be different, but the housing itself should be the same. And your car definitely has the Torsen rear.

I just want to clarify that the extra puddle welds are holding on the axle tubes. I know the diff may be the weak point but the tubes have not twisted to my research. I want to do this myself so I don't have to worry about warping the rear end.

I like having a Torsen instead of the regular GT rear. It may not be the best rear for drag racing, but last time I checked, I dont get paid to drag race, and do it maybe 2 times a year. lol. Now, as for highway pulls.... That's a diff story.

the stock unit isnt all that great once you hit certain power either. Hence why most people say go trutrac

I can always pull my perfectly good T2 rear and sell it, and go buy a 9" big boy ass end. Which is my plan

I just got under the rear and looked closer. My rear, the Torsen T2, has 3 plugs welded in, and has a 4th hole in the diff shoulder but no puddle weld like the pics 93 posted.

So, easy fix to make my T2 Track Pack rear the same as the stronger 13 GT500 rear, take it in and have some puddle welds filled in those holes. :)

Boom! That makes me happy. :)

I'm thinking weld tubes, fill in the hole with a puddle weld, and install braces (below). That should help me rear survive. Right?

That's a little odd, why are the "supports" on pivoting links.
I thought the idea was to NOT have the axle tube twist not let it twist a little bit.
Just imagine it in your head, you can still definitely twist the tubes pretty freely with those heim joints attached.

I think CHE has the right idea as far as an axle tube brace, it doesn't allow any movement.

Not as long as the axle tubes are embedded into the housing; they'd have to either bend or buckle at the housing and/or at the axle side brackets that those links are attached to. Or those bracket to axle tube welds would have to tear.

I want a CHE brace, but it won't work with BMR Relo brackets. And BMR hasn't made anything to compete with the CHE one. The CHE bracket works with their Relo brackets, but Im not gonna buy new brackets just to make there brace work

I think my 3 point attack will do the job. Fill in puddle weld spots like 13 GT500, weld tubes to diff, and put on the brace arms from UPR

Are you planning on running 8's? Because that would be extreme overkill for anything less.

Hi, my names overkill, nice to meet you.

And as for 8s... No. But the car will have potential for low 9's soon, although, for me to get there will take some serious driving. Lol
