The old T2, and the T2R are known to break when drag racing, but the Boss/GT500 Torsen is considerably stronger, and seems to be holding up to drag racing well. Have you seen failures? Links? Aside from the one dumbass kid on SVTP who broke his from wheel hop.

What year GT500's have the Torsen?

Here are pics of a 2013 GT500 rear axle housing. The only difference between it and any 05-12 as far as I can tell are the two puddle welds. There are 3 plugs/pins/slugs, and 1 puddle weld per side holding the axle tubes to the housing center.

Well, Im happy to hear that the Torsen diff is stronger. It definitely looks stronger when Im under there examining it.

Visually, this rear end would appear identical to all the 05-12's.

Considering Lethal has also broke axles, and countless other parts at the track, I wouldn't consider that failure to be widespread or problematic, or even a concern for others. They run their cars hard (not a bad thing).

it still broke.

Good info 1993.

So the person who called me and informed me of that, is correct. I wonder who he was...

So, my Torsen is stronger and less prone to ruining my day right?

Compared to other Torsens, yes. What year is your Boss? According to my catalog, only the '13 and newer Boss and GT500's got the updated/welded axle housing.

Only the Boss LS and GT500 PP gets the Torsen. I think you have the regular Boss 3.73 limited slip rear. I don't know that for sure though. If you PM me the last 8 of your VIN I can tell you exactly what it has.

^ The man is correct.

The Boss 302 LS and the GT500, 2013 and newer have the revised rear axle housing (additional welds)

Well clearly that is a Torsen rear end. But what I said was the regular Boss didn't get the Torsen, so your track pack option comes with a Boss LS rear.

So with yours being a '13 with a Torsen rear, it's a safe bet you have the updated/welded rear housing as well. All good.
