Jim, with the times you were running, you definitely need a brace (Swarr is in Collegeville), especially now with that blower. It's not a good idea to try to weld the tubes in the car (well, properly weld them). Besides, it would be nearly impossible to tell if your rear was tweaked out of alignment while still in the car. With the rears that I did for the dealership, I was able to check alignment with dial indicators and make them straight. I will gladly weld up a new 2014 GT500 housing to swap your guts into, but you should just get a Swarr bar.

That IS funny, but seriously though, I was just pointing out that falkinman was right. Those red things are UCA relo brackets, not axle tube braces.

Oh I know. It's just that after I read the first two words of your post, I couldn't get that damn commercial out of my head. Lol.

I hear you, but with this weather it may never leave the garage.

My last s197 had a CHE brace and my Fox had a Swarr Bar.

I haven't looked at the swarr bar for the fox body cars but I don't really like the ones for the s197 because they don't look like they would privide any support against deflection in the direction in which my housing was bent. The CHE brace does however and that's the reason I chose one for my car.

I am definitely going with a CHE.

Just find someone that can weld and get some tubing and make one that fits

This cost me $25 in tubing from tractor supply. Welded directly to Rearend it's not going anywhere

idk how I feel about it, those skinny tubes set up that way looks like it would allow twist. And also far from where the axles are pushed in.

My buddy Chris has been doing 8.8's in foxes and new edge cars like this for years with no issues, running as fast as high 4's in 1/8th
Tubes are welded as well.

We mainly bent tubes not twisted them and the front brace keeps the tubes from bending front or rear and the bottom brace keeps the tubes from bending up or down if the tires shock or hop.

Yea that makes sense if it's up or down that would make more sense geometrically

Frankie, it's all about triangulation.
I'm not a physics major or anything, but I drew up a little thing to show you what I am thinking...

Wouldn't it be easier to twist the first setup rotation wise shown here as opposed to the second with not just two top and bottom bars and some gusseting and closer to the pumpkin (leverage)

Won't #1 just end up like this if you twist?...

hope you can visualize what I am thinking lol.

First off you need to tell me what would cause the axle tube to twist. I can't figure out that part. Does the axle shaft inside all of a sudden swell up and lock on the tubing, creating a twisting force on the tube?

Well I'd say you tell me why all these people are welding their axle tubes if there is no twist going on? lol

I found this pic of something that would be strong as hell... I mean they can't be doing this for no reason right?
