Guys,

I'm speaking of the 4.6 3-valve engines.

If you have used both what's your opinions ???

I have the Innovators West 18% over driven on mine right now.

ATI has a 20% (Steel) unit for more street use versus their Aluminum unit.

The Performance Shop that has my Mustang only uses the ATI Damper in the Steel.

If you have any thoughts/opinions on these two companies I would like to see what you have to say.

ATI Damper 20% over-driven,

As an install facility we like both products. Both companies make an excellent product, it really boils down to budget and preference of the customer. We always make recommendations regarding on the build, but both have proven time and time again to be reliable.

I have the IW 10% OD and I selected mine purely out of look.

Just hated how the stock was all rusty and didn't know if the ATI would get some surface rust too as well in certain areas.

Also I don't need any of the timing marks and etc. So in my opinion the IW was a cleaner option.

Thanks for your input it is appreciated.

Maybe you could give me some additional input on the following question.

How much additional boost in lbs will be gained from the now (IW 18%) going to the soon ATI (20%) over-driven ???

Perhaps a 1/2 Lb or 1 Lb additional if you by change have an opinion ???

ATI here, but I wish I would have gone with the 10% OD.

I think ATI offers a 16% Damper, I think.

Terry

Possibly half a pound, almost negligible, depends on who is doing the tuning as to how effective it will be

There's something to be said about nearly every professional race team running ATI dampers.

I have an ATI and I've had no issues with fit, finish, or performance.

Terry if you want to sell that 18% I'll take it!! I run an IW 10% right now.
Derek,

I don't think I'll sell it to you until I find out if my issue/problem is the IW Damper.

I won't know until DBR Performance installs the ATI Damper.
http://dbrhighperformance.com/
There was not one (ATI) in stock anywhere on the shelf so it had to go back to ATI to be ordered and made.
Going to be awhile but I'll let you know once I know for sure myself.

In the near future I'll know if my current IW 18% one is my problem.

DBR Performance only uses the ATI Damper on all their builds.

Guys,

I appreciate all your input above guys, thanks.

I have been reading everything I can find on the two companies and just now found this thread on Yellowbullitt.com

http://www.yellowbullet.com/forum/showthread.php?t=876914

Something to consider ...

Take a look at NASCAR and NHRA Pro Stock:
Both of those groups are NA and have bottomless check books. They will
spend countless dollars for each & every HP they can find.

100% of the engines in both of those classes have an ATI damper on
them. If that isn't enough to convince you, I don't know what is.
A very interesting thread/posts on it about the two companies.
Seems to me that what DBR Performance said is Factual for sure why they only use ATI.

ATI. I didn't even consider another brand. Their super damper is a mod motor gold standard imo.

ATI here, my motivation for the ATI was based on the procharger drive pulley design. Compared to the OE piggyback method, it was a must-have. The pulley itself is peace of mind for anyone reving high and fast. Paired with a quality tensioner, you should have as much supporting mod insurance for your oil pump as you can.

Re: Coyote - ATI vs factory vs Innovators West damper

Below is part of one of the reviews,

Katech conducted a harmonic damper test for General Motors several years ago.
The test involved the use of four different aftermarket dampers on a 427-cubic-inch small block.
From 3,112 to approximately 6,500 rpm, all of the dampers limited crankshaft twist to no more than 0.6 degrees.
Above 6,500 rpm, things got interesting. Crankshaft twist increased by a considerable margin with three of the dampers.
At 7,893 rpm, one damper allowed a considerable 2.0 degrees of crank twist.
The second had 1.7 degrees of twist, and the third had approximately 1.25 degrees of twist.
The last damper—made by ATI—allowed just 0.28 degrees of crankshaft twist.

I have a cast crank, if it twists at all it will just snap!
