Is this normal???

Ok, quick bio... 2005 GT,5 speed Manual trans, stock except for JLT CAI and Diablo Tune.

Ok is it normal to hear a loud single "thump" coming from the engine bay the moment in press the clutch in when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear at WOT.


Ex: in 1st gear, WOT, 6000 RPM - Presses clutch in - THUMP - Shift into 2nd and releases clutch.

Carrier bearing on driveshaft? Loud thud that usually comes from the tunnel area

AAAH! That could be it, when i was under my car i was able to move the Carrier Bearing around, its appears the mounting bracket allows the rubber insulator to move about 1/8th inch. Aside from that, thump... no other noise from it.

Well, checked it out, carrier bearing and center support are solid... the play is in the rear diff, poor me... now ill have to buy some 4.10 gears to solve this problem.
