Get a Jon Lund tune. Problem solved. I have a VMP, TORQ, Brenspeed and Bama. Lund is very smooth and everything is right on target. Omcar ran a 12.08 with stock tires and a tune.

I went 12.19 with OEM tires and the Livernois tune. I'm a tenth fatter than Omcar...

I don't know who is doing your tune now or what the conditions are like where you were racing, but these cars are fully capable of low 12s and high 11s in good air.

With just a tune and tires.

Very interesting.. I though bama had some of the best tunes for the A6 2011+... but now people are saying there are problems..

So brenspeed and John Lund are the 2 best right now? Hope that changes when I finally get my 2012 (on hold because they ran out of 5.0 engines)

yeah stang1971, your 1/4 mile times sound like you are running at around 2500-3000' elevation. or just bad DA. what are your trap speeds? if you are running at good DA i'd wonder if something is screwed up with your car, running about .3-.5 slow.

I didn't have issues with Bama when I had the factory 3.15 gears, and I know of several people who don't have the issue with their factory gears. My problems with them started when I got the 3.73's. They never could get it right, but definitely not for lack of trying.

hmm and i was planning on trying 4.10s.. really weird. on my 2007 when i put in the 4.10s I didn't even need a new tune, just changed the option on the sct2 to 4.10 gears and it worked fine. But i heard that was a problem with bama, they chose shift points based off of mph instead of rpm, brenspeed does theirs based on rpm. Atleast thats what i read on the forums, i didn't ask bama or brenspeed.

Wait a second, let me check my sig...

No, I don't think I agree with your deduction.

Got to be careful what you read on forums, there is about 150 tables for the shift points, pressure/timing and TCC lock/unlock.

In its simplest form there is a WOT rpm shift point table, looks pretty simple at first. But there are also separate mph based upshift/downshift tables (along with expected RPM before and and after the shift), hot temp tables, TCS shift tables, and they all interact.

I am very picky about auto trans shift points and converter lockup so I chose to get the PRP software and do it the way I wanted. I have quite a few hours into it and I'm pretty happy with everything right now. Dont get me wrong, the VMP tune for the blower worked great at WOT at the track and 98% of the time on the street. But shift points would vary a bit if the car downshifted at WOT or spun the tires some and I wanted it it to hold longer in certain gears and downshift into lower gear with a little less throttle.

Point is these are very complex and the further you get from stock power the more difficult it is for the trans to do what you want, especially the 1-2 shift. Change gears and converter and I'm sure it even gets harder to nail perfect without spending some time with the car.

shift problems

Ihave had a problem with trans shifting from second to third at wide open throttle when It shifts hard and I get wheelspin going into second trans will go right into third and then downshift back into second. That was with the updated steeda tune running street tires at the track. They sent me anothe \r tune with a softer 1-2 shift. It did the same thing on the street but I will wait to get to the track to pass judgement. My sct tune doesnt do that but the shift is much less agressive.

That should not happen with Advance Trac dis engaged ,.,Sometimes wheel spin shuts the fuel off

i had that issue a couple times with my evo tune back in june of last year, but since then they have learned alot, and i don't think the car has done that since july or august.

i believe they corrected those issues

i think some of the tuners are just "behind" the times on trans tuning, lol

do they do mail order tunes? i haven't heard of them doing that. I was speaking specifically mail order, since in MT my choices are somewhat limited, although there is a tuner in Billings I can go to, he hasn't tuned a 5.0 yet, but has done good things with the 3 valve. The lack of 5.0 tuning experience, and with the isuses with the A6 transmission tuning, and i now live 3.5 hours away.. makes me hesitant to use him, if i lived in town i'd definetly have him do it.

i talked to 3 top tuners today and they all told me there is no way to get rid of the 2-3-2 shift when you get excessive wheelspin... but they all agree that the shifting at 4200 into 3rd is not right.... i contacted where i got my tune from and told him all my issues and he was correcting them today... so ill give them one more chance to get my 2-3 shift at 7200 like my other gears and if it shifts into 5th at wot then ill live with the 2-3-2 shift since there is nothing to eliminate that yet.

sct tune time

Looks about right for just a tune. Picked up about a quarter of a second. I went 12.40 stock and then with the sct tune went 12.14, only my car shifted around 65-6600 rpms.
