You have the stroker crank and rods but the pistons are for the standard stroke and connecting rod length. You need to check the piston box and paperwork for the compression distance on the pistons.

Let me guess......horsepower1 on Ebay or did you buy it from Brenspeed?

You need different pistons. Compression distance needs to be 1.180". Sounds like you have the stock pistons with a 1.220" distance.

If you got them from Ebay.....they came from horsepower1...aka: foundadeal.com. Do you have the high compression or low compression setup?

The big bore stuff is actually 305". No matter who you got it from if you have the wrong pistons you are in deep shit. You will have to go straight to CP Pistons to have them made in the correct configuration.

Nope. CP was the original supplier to Saleen. Only other chance you might have is to contact either Brenspeed or JDM to see if they have a set of the low compression pistons on the shelf they might want to sell.

If you need the low compression pistons call Brenspeed. Ask for CP Pistons Part number 06-1603-B17343. They have them for $900 a set.

If you need the high compression pistons call JDM and ask for CP Pistons Part number 06-1603-B14655. They had some and were cheaper than Brenspeed.

The low compression ones are ~9.5:1 and the high compression ones are ~10.4:1 if I remember right.

Good luck, I had the same shit happen to me.

Cannot tell you the compression if we don't know the part number or can see the spec sheet. However, your problem appears to be that you have the 1.220" compression distance piston which is supposed to be used with the stock stroke and connecting rod length. This puts the piston too far out of the hole.

Compression distance = distance from the pin centerline to the deck of the piston.

Yup...you gotta watch them closely. Had this piston deal bite me and a few others. Although they did have a brand new B&B 3.700" tapered ring compressor for $9.99 plus shipping. :naughty1:

Tapered ring compressor helps you install the rod/piston assembly into the block. You don't have to ratchet or squeeze anything like other designs require. The 3.700" version is used for the big bore blocks.
